We have more diversity than you might imagine. We have palm trees down in Devon and Cornwall, but you'd never think it if you walked in Northumbria. We have mountains, cliffs, woodlands, moorlands and beautiful coastlines.

Lovely picturesque villages. Spectacular lakes. Cities with old cathedrals and universities palaces and castles. Many very old buildings. Lots of history and themes parks and zoos and other places of leisure.

We have some grimy inner cities. With high-rise blocks of flats. We have some people who are by comparison rather poor, but an excellent welfare system so no one is too badly off.

We are generous and welcoming with excellent facilities in all areas. Excellent retail outlets.

Our weather rages from snow, fog, rain, sleet, gales, hail in winter. And hot sunny days with gentle rain in summer.

We have four seasons. Spring is warm and temperate. Summer hot. Autumn it turns chilly and misty. Winter is crisp and cold. They overlap so you get mild winter days and chilly summer ones. Our temperature never varies as greatly as some countries.

We have deciduous and evergreen trees. We enjoy a very varied cosmopolitan diet. I would say we are now mostly a secular society, but all the religions flourish, especially Christianity. The Church of England is the national religion.

We excel in all areas of the arts. And still today, British people invent more things than the rest of the world put together. We have good international trade links and are a democracy, even though we still maintain our Royal Family for charity and tourist purposes.

Do also look up Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Ignore the ignorance of the first answerer...she is obviously about ten.

The U.K. is cold and very beautiful in places....particularly Cornwall, Scotland, Wales and the Cotswolds....of sourse there are other lovely places. London is fabulous..I lived there for ten years and still miss it sometimes...if you like History, there is a lot here for you.

England has both good and bad points but whatever you're looking for you're sure to find it. Of course, Britain's colonial empire had a huge effect on the world and her contribution to the literature world has been equally large. She now has wealth of history and culture to offer visitors and there's always plenty happening in the form of festivals, music and events. If you want to take a look at some beautiful places, browse the photos on this site;

The Doctor
It's nice here. I believe someone once said, "If Britain was a person, they would be sectioned".

The phoneboxes are nice. And a lot of the TV's good, too. (HINT HINT Doctor Who HINT HINT.)
I agree with what Daisyhill said (including the part about the first poster).
Some places aren't so nice, it's true, but most of Britain is lovely.
