It depends where you draw the dividing line between north and south.
For the BBC and the British media 'north' is anything outside the M25 - a strange and inhospitable land that they rarely visit and rarely report upon.
For anyone living in London north means anything north of Watford.
Most people I guess would say that Birmingham is more or less in the middle so that could be taken as the divide between north and south.
I don't think either is better as both have their good and bad points. People in the north are much friendlier and have on average 3 times as many friends as people living in London, crime in the north is also much less with 51% of all the UK's crime being commited in London.
The weather in the south is better, more specifically the south west which has the warmest weather year round (15.5 C in Penzance compared to 13 C in London and 12 C in Edinburgh).
Personally I've lived in both - as far south as central London and as far north as Aberdeen and to be honest, the further north I've gone the more I've liked it. |

I've lived in the north and the south and they both have their merits and disadvantages.
Scotland has it's fantastic scenery, friendly people and great haggis! Their roads are far better than anywhere else in the uk. Edinburgh buzzes, the west coast is gorgeous.
The south has accessability as an asset. It's easy to get across the channel, London has a huge vibe, and the beautiful counties of Cornwall and Devon within a few hours drive. Perhaps image is concentrated on too much in the south. It seems to be vital to look cool. There's a great deal of street crime too.
I come from Wales so I can be fairly neutral! |

I would say that the north is better... there's a north star (no south star). santa clause comes from the northpole... not the south. People in the North are better drivers because they undergo all types of weather conditions as where the south it's always nice conditions to drive through most of the year. People from the north are also smarter than people in the south do to better school systems. North is also the direction to heaven as where the south is the direction to hell... so in music terms... stairway to heaven or highway to hell? =P |
