have to agree with another respondent above "bortakmeki"- I also left UK years ago. Used to be a nice place but now its nasty.

Still, can be nice in some rural paces- but the British have changed much -forget the old English Gentleman image- they hardly exist any more. Many people are aggressive and nasty and crime is out of control.
In order to control this, the place resembles a police state, cameras watching you everywhere you go etc .....then you have these vicious rags they call newspapers, who delight in destroying peoples lives with smears and lies, the list goes on...
yeah sure a ""Great" country !

Now I live abroad I see the British when they go abroad -usually aggressive, drunk, carrying six pack of beer (one for each braincell) and it reminds me never, never to go back there!
Anyway with Blair in charge its more a colony of USA.
Only hes not noticed, because his head is still stuck up GWs butt!

If you want to visit a civilised country try Germany or Holland. Nice people, polite and pleasant!
Only thing I vaguely miss about Britain is the TV comedy and decent cup of tea!
Glad I got out and live in a more civilsed country!

well im british and i have lived here in the cotswolds for nearly 33 years. it IS a GREAT country. i live near Oxford and its full of History - something USA doesnt have. people here are VERY friendly and socialable!! im not sure where the comment of people over here are of great size cause believe me it just aint true. it truely is a GREAT place and those that dont think so have obviously never been here where i live.

nothing and not very, is the answer, I left there 10 years ago and my life has improved tremendously, the British moaning attitude, incessant desire to out do one another, form opinions on things they dont understand etc, etc, Unfortunatly I am british, and certainly not proud of it.

jeepers... don't just go bonkers because of a GREAT country. they don't exactly have a GREAT attitude (people there) and boy are they GREAT sized...just don't get too personal just because of their so called GREAT GREATnessessssss.....

The Great in Great Britain has nothing to do with how great a country we may or may not be...it is simply the term for the collective countries that are England, Wales and Scotland...

But...you already know that!

It's the largest of the British Isles. Get an atlas.

well as some one from ENGLAND...part of GREAT Britain, a history lesson is greatly needed and as you take pains to point out in other places you are a physicist one would actually assume you would already have some level of education where this had been covered SOOOOOOOOO I can only assume you are being sarcastic, so my reply to that ISSSSSSSSSSSSS

majority of the people here are firnedly, we have great country side, we know what manners are and actually use them!!!, we will offer help to people no matter who they are when needed, americans take a look at the war in iraq, need i continue, No didn't think so!!!!!
