Depends what area of East London. If you're in South East London (Peckham, West Norwood etc.) then you're probably best learning Ghanian, Nigerian or West Indian Patois to be in the majority. If you're in E1 near Commercial Street then Bangladeshi would be your language of choice. Obviously the official language is still English (including the beautiful East End cockney rhyming slang) but the variety spoken is amazing and just goes to show how everyone can live together. The world could learn a lesson from London.

the official language of London is English although London has more languages spoken than any other city on earth.

The english spoken in east London is english but with a london dialect.

Spending time in the area is the best way to learn

The most widely spoken language anywhere in UK is England. However, in the Eastend (East) London, it might help if you speak Urdu - many folk living there come from Bangladesh. But you had better hurry up,because the UK.gov in it's mad zeal is trying to force the Curry House staff to leave UK. I mean just how daft does it get. And, where are the people supposed to get their curry from if there's no one from Bangladesh to make it for us. We're all going to starve.

This would be really hilarious if someone else hadn't posted the exact same question a while ago.

Sign Language.

Learn it and stick with it permanently.

At least you won't be able to speak out loud this nonsense.

Whats wrong with u folks giving those stupid racist answers??
Also the questioner must have some issues too. Its English.
And to all the ignorant haters. London is such a great and amazing city because of all the mixed cultures!!!! And remember most foreigners in London are from former British colonies so after exploiting theses peoples countries and their forefathers they have the right to live in beautiful London and spice it up.

Contrary to our American friends the language of east London is not Cockney...you have to speak with a 'black' accent nowadays.
