George.
FACT. London city airport is the nearest to the centre of London.
Have a look at Google Earth if you do not believe us. Or their web site www.londoncityairport.com.
Its a sad world, so many ignorant people!
Assuming you are in BCN, you could fly via France or the Netherlands.
Otherwise, I prefer Gatwick as the train (Gatwick Express) to Victoria Station takes half an hour. |

There are no airports in the centre of London - it would be a bit noisy for a start...
Geographically speaking City Airport is the closest although it is actually the hardest to get to - it's way out beyond Docklands.
Heathrow is 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express from Paddington but it would take you an extra half hour or so on the Tube from Paddington into the centre.
Gatwick is 40 minutes on the Gatwick Express from and to Victoria which is more central.
Luton airport is an hour train to Luton and then bus shuttle to the airport (total journey around 2 hours if you include waiting for transport).
Stansted is actually way out by Cambridge so you need to get the Stansted Express from Liverpool Street Station which takes about an hour and 40 minutes.
If you have a private jet then you could land at Biggin Hill which is in Bromley and if you have a helicopter you can land at Battersea. |

How about the 'London City Airport' as possibly contender?
try this > http://www.londoncityairport.com/ < for you to look at and make up your own mind about it.
Bon voyage.

London City Airport is probably nearest, but has a limited number of flight destinations.
Heathrow is best, very near the West End for shops etc, and has a fast connection. |
