It depends on which country you originate from & the purpose of your visit. A valid passport & possibly a visa. Then the length of your stay will dictate other expectations. There are restrictions on some items, plants & food stuffs, guns, knives etc. For more information check the UK's Foreign & Commonwealth Office website. Be aware that at many points of arrival there are new bio-metric systems being phased in, so your clearence through imigration & Customs may take longer than you expect. Like the USA we are moving to system which will store the fingerprints & other unique features of all visitors/immigrants to the UK to help prevent terrorism, crime & over staying.
