Driving any where takes longer in England, and when you get there you can't park.

More restaurants in US, much better service, huge portions, free refills on soft drinks.

Its easy to get a glass of iced water in US restaurants, and for free.

You ususlay get a side salad including in the price of a meal in the US

You need to tip everyone in the US, and in restaurants at least 15%

You cannot get a drinkable cup of tea in the US. And you have to ask for HOT (!) tea.

You can't get a drink or enter bars in the US if you are under 18 and they demand ID almost up to retirement age.

There are many toll roads in the US.

The US national parks are a delight, and excellently run.

Generally things are much cheaper in the US

You get a decent shower with lots of water coming out with force in the US, while in England its a trickle.

US toilet bowels have water almost up to the rim which is disconcerting for men when they have to sit down as they feel that a certain part of their anatomy may 'go for a dip'. On the other hand the whirlpool effect of the US version means they are more effective at clearing the deposits.

In the US a building only needs to be 100 years old to be something special, and 200 years its made into a museum.

Rooms in England have a light hanging from the centre of the ceiling whereas in the US light comes from table lamps around the room

US lightswitches are big old fashioned looking levers.

People boil water on a stove in the US, in the UK everyone uses an electric kettle.

Prices in England are what you pay as tax is included, in the US they add sales tax at the till.

American children say a pledge of allegiance in school. There is no such thing in England.

Theare are countless roundabouts in England, but they are very rare in the US (where they are known as rotaries or traffic circles)

There are no '4 way' stop intersections in England.

There is no school bus service like in the US

They don't serve 'biscuits' in KFC in England.

You can't get proper 'fish'n'chips' in the US

In the US baked beans invariably has meat in it, whereas they never do in England. The English type is known as vegetarian in the US.

There are no Outback Steakhouses in England.

Hey - they are different countries -- different strokes/different folks. That's what makes travel fun.

English newspapers are national, US are local. (though there are local papers in England also)

The major TV channels in England are commercial free or limited to 6 minutes of commercials an hour. US TV has about 20 minutes of commercials. A TV program that takes 90 minutes in the US fits into a 1 hour slot in England.

Main political parties in England are conservatives, labour, liberals. US republicans and democrats.
England has counties, US has states.
You can watch an entire program without breaking for commercials in England.
In the US I'm a size 8, in the UK I'm a size 12.
The English qeue at a busstop, Americans just randomly stand around until the bus comes.
The High Street, where most of the shops are located in an English town, seems to be English too.

edit: something I noticed in a program tonight - I don't think there are any drive-by ATMs in the UK

What you need to do to succeed in a nightclub.
More money is spent in nightclubs in the US than the UK.

Well it rains a lot here in England and we don't get major hurricanes either like the USA.

Ray
Eng: u drive on the left of the road
USA: on the right

Eng:Most of the inhibitents are originally from the land
USA:Inhibitted by immigrants from All over the world.

Eng:Hav funny brithsh accent
USA:Hav silly american accent which waries from North and south

You can buy white fish salad in America, and you can't in the UK.

cnimuk
you can get a decent pint in the UK which was a major reason for me moving home to blighty! Plus nobody will ask how you count to 10 in American, i was asked on several occasions in the US how to count to 10 in English. Most people have passports and have been out of the country. We have a strange faith in the miraculous powers of a cup of tea, and we don't bomb our allies very often if at all.

England is little
US is big
English people are nice
US people ... well
English Pubs are fun
American bars ... well
English people are cultured
Americans are ... well
