wow one day ---

buy a double Decker 24 bus ticket. This will give you a 24 hour ticket on a tourist bus that will give you the chance to see all of London for 24 hours. Then you can hop on and off at the places that interest you.

I have been to London five times for an average of three weeks at a time. I still feel that i haven't seen all of London.

I would get a fommers or foders guide to London to give you some ideas of the places you can go.

For me:

tower of London
the bridges
talggpher square
Piccadilly square
Buckingham place and the park around it
Greenwich

see a show

have an english breakest
englsih cream tea
eat some fish and chips

As described above, do the London Eye, especially on a clear day and you can see for miles. Come off the London Eye and take a river boat up the Thames, get off at Westminster and see Houses of Parliment, Big Ben, New Scotland Yard, take a short stroll up Downing Street to see where the Blairs live, cut through the back of horseguards parade onto Pall Mall and up to Buckingham Palace. Head back up the Mall and head to Trafalgar Square, there is a lovely park along the Mall to sit in, with a pond and cafe to take a breather and refresh yourself. Enjoy

The Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, The London Dungeon, HMS Belfast, one of the great museums (science museum, natural history or my favourite, the Imperial War Museum)

i went to london for one day with my boyfriend and we went to madam tussards early in the morning, then we went for a pub lunch, then we looked around harrords, then we went on the lond eye to finish it all off. it was a great day, but i advise you that you pre-book your tickets for attractions via the internet as its quick and easy and then your london day trip will hopefully be hassle free for you to enjoy! theres loads to do in London! have fun!

The Imperial War Museum offers history, adventure, excitement, and can be very moving as wel as informative.

There's lots to see.and visit. Here's a brief list of the main attractions.

Palaces - Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court Palace. All of these are open to visitors.

Museums and Galleries - Natural History Museum, Science Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, The Tate and Tate Modern, British Museum, Imperial War Museum.

Famous Buildings and Monuments etc - The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Whitehall and Downing Street, Clarence House, St James Palace, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch, Monument, Tower Bridge, London Eye.

Churches - Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, St Clement Dane, Temple Church, Saint Martin in the field.

There's such a lot to see I can't possibly list them all here. I'd recommend an Eyewitness Travel Guide as they're very comprehensive and include attractions, opening times, photos and maps.

Try the website for The Original London Walks as they do loads of guided tours around the city, They're very cheap and you can take Jack the Ripper, Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, Charles Dickens, Museum and Ghost walks. They are very good indeed and you get to see the places lots of tourists don't eve know about.

Travel by tube or bus, It's cheaper than by taxi and very convenient. You can get travel cards from your nearest tube station.

The main shopping streets are Oxford and Regent Street. You can try New Bond Street for Designer labels. Camden for alternative clothing. There's a big mall in Brent Cross also.

As for food, there are places to eat everywhere. China Town in Soho is good and Brick Lane for Indian Food in particular.

Have fun.
