For tourists London is the most popular place and of course it does have some fine architecture, historic sites, museums and art galleries. But there is also a sameness about most large cities - noise, pollution, social problems and overcrowded transportation. I would highly recommend to all visitors to Britain that they spend some time in our gorgeous countryside; the landscape is unique and amazingly varied for such a small country, from the high wild mountains of Scotland to the gentle pastoral green hills of Dorset, that inspired the writings of Thomas Hardy. |
