London's cool. Its a historical world city. I would love to visit it someday.

But come on..its America. We have everything here. From big urban cities like New York and Los Angeles to deserts to beaches to snowy mountains...
We have every culture present here, any food you can think of..
A lot of major modern culture comes from here. Films made in Hollywood, lots of modern music got its start here (jazz, rock n' roll, hip hop), graffiti culture, breakdancing, certain fashions...lots of stuff popular in the world came from the states.

Plus we have lots of famous cities known all over the world.

New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Seattle, and lots lots more. Lots of urban environments to discover. You can live here and not have seen them all.

Plus we also have Hawaii and Alaska.

the cons about being here is that it is a bit more violent than other first world countries...but oh well. Makes us tougher too!

EDIT:
Wow, what a lot of haters the British must be! The vast majority of replies are by british people, and I have four thumb downs for nothing but saying the good things about America? I didnt even bring down England!
I guess Europe really does have a lot of bitterness towards the States!

The U.K. because I couldn't live in a country where the death penalty is still in force.....and legal gun carrying is sick.

England is probably the best not being biased or anything....lol. Our sense of humour is one of the best and we dont take our selfs to seriouly. We have a amazing mix of cultures and majority of us are nice. Come to sheffield its got a great night life and all that lol

Because i'm english i'm a little bias but i'd stay here! I don't dislike the americans but i see a difference in our humour and attitude towards life. I like the english mentality better! EDIT however, its a bit unfair to compare one country with a whole continent! You should ask if you'd rrther live in Europe or america. Europe is full of culture, loads of different landscapes as well as people and languages!

It depends on how you want to live. . . if you want to live in the big city, I would say the US because it's cheaper. But if you like rural areas, I say the UK because it's really beautiful and nice.

I like the UK's sense of humour too, though, because Americans get offended easily. :-)

I am an American living in London, have been here 2 yrs, and I would love to stay here!!

Everyone knows that house prices are quite a bit cheaper in the US compared to the UK and I think that the US has better cities, each one with it's own individual culture, unlike UK cities, which are very similar. However, the UK has more rural countryside, the kind you could not find in the US and in the UK we don't have to pay for health care as it's included in our taxes.

england every time. lots of history, lovely people, great food but the weather is a bit of a gamble.

UK! Americans seem quite fake and shallow.

UK all day long mostly for reasons above - I like the British sense of humour, furthermore I am very proud of my county (Yorkshire), I like the way we don't get very emotional - the whole stiff upper lip thing (true story - a British commander in Korea once radioed the Americans "getting a bit sticky here" but the Americans did not realise this meant they were being slaughtered and sent no reinforcements). I also like our sports - I have a season ticket at Barnsley Football club, I regularly attend snooker and cricket and enjoy rugby on TV - all of which involve far more skill and strategy than US sports and there is not the same passion for Association Football (soccer) in the USA. and with regards the financial issues - the US is in a worse state than us- recent interest rate cuts show how worried they are.

joanne9989
I'd choose the UK, because of the free healthcare and the cider.

i live in england - i love it here so much but i'd love to go the the states for uni just to see what its like to live there, my family go there every year on holiday and i'd just love to go to uni in california!

Vast spaces of america are bland and samey, its not like the movies! It lacks character and history (unless your into westerns) and would only feel like home if you were born their.
England is compact and characterfull and of course its home.
IF vegas was nearer id have it as my second home!

Britain has big economic issues right now! food and fuel prices are on the up, and taxes are going up, with wages staying the same!

plus ive lived in Britain all ma life, and i'm sorta bored of it now...
