I like classic cafes/greasy spoon restaurants. The New Piccadilly on Denman St in Soho is one of London's best, as is the even older (1940s) Regency Cafe on Regency St in Pimlico. There is also a stylish 1930s bar called Dick's in a basement on Glasshouse St. An even older place to have a drink is the Black Friar pub near Blackfriars station. It has a wonderful atmosphere and decor with bronze-coloured friars on the walls.

A special park is Postman's Park around King Edward St in the City. It is small and quiet and has memorial plaques to people who died saving others - it's very moving. I would also try Shooters Hill and Hampstead Heath as they are high up and have a good view.

Something else not many people know about is the bell tower of Westminster (Catholic) cathedral. For about Â£3 you can go up and see for miles over London. There are little signs explaining what the landmarks you see are, and it is a lot cheaper than the London Eye.

Not trying to be mean but why would they tell?
What often makes a place popular is that it isn't too well known.
Just like here in Florida, some I my favourite places are off the beaten tract.

It's becoming more and more popular, but I recommend Shoreditch. It has fashion by day, and funky wicked bo little shops, and at night! clubs around Old Street are cheaper than those in leicester sq. playing more alternative and funky beats. the indian restaurants on brick lane are all competing for your attention, but they're pretty much all good. On Sundays check out Spitalfields Market, it's gone a bit upmarket recently, though. but yeh, that's where all the cool cats hang... see ya there!!

I love Camden - Camden Markets around Camden Lock ... and my favourite littel museum is "The Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garret". ItÂ´s near London Dungeon but much more creepy. All exhibits are original. And when you are standing in the middle of the old operating theatre next to the operating table and read about the straw, what was used under the wodden floor to suck the blood ... you think: is it still there? How many people suffered on this table.

Little Venice is lovely. You see the sights from the canals thay you can't see from the roads. The Original London Walks do a walking tour there. You can get to see lots of the hidden London on their walks and they're really cheap. I recommend them highly.
