What are your true feelings about the UK now?

I moved out of the UK 10 years ago but everytime I go back to visit things seem to get worse! What is it like now to live in?

Sorry I don't mean to swear but it's a f****** sh*thole. We have tons and tons of immigrants coming over who can't speak a single word of English-and don't even want to learn. It makes me mad when I watch the news and see some illegal immigrant on there saying "We come to Britain for easy life. No job. Free money". The government gives them housing before our own people. I don't understand why illegal immigrants are given priority and treated so well over here.

Crime has got so bad that it's not safe to walk about at night. Even the nicest of areas are becoming dangerous. This country has gone down rapidly in the last few years. The place I live used to be ok- not posh or anything, but not rough either. Now we have gangs of chavs hanging around causing chaos. Two of the pubs near me have all their windows boarded up where yobs have chucked bricks through the windows so many times. You can't buy a decent car unless you have a garage, because if you do someone will either steal it, put a brick through the window, break into it or scratch it with their keys. I was coming home from a night out recently, it was about 3am and there were a group of very young chavs (no older than 12) who were trying to break into someone's car.

Muggings, assault and knife attacks are common, but don't bother reporting it to the police because they will do sod all. One of my friends always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and has been mugged, stabbed and viciously attacked by chavs....but the police will do nothing, so he doesn't even bother reporting things like that anymore. And you can't stick up to the chavs or try and fight back because they will murder you. Full grown men are scared of 16 year old boys. It's not right. This country is a shambles.

And you're lucky if you can afford to buy a house here. I'm in my early twenties and hardly anyone of my generation can, or will ever be able to afford a decent house. The average salary is £20,000 and if you want a semi in an ok area you have to pay £250,000 upwards.

This country is so depressing to live in. It gets worser by the second. It's like hell on earth. You done well to move out of the UK- good on you. I will be getting out of this pathetic excuse of a country as soon as humanly possible. I can't bear to live here a second longer. My Mum and Dad can't believe what a state this country has got into and are looking to emigrate also. All the educated, decent British people are getting out of here, in a few years time this country won't have hardly any English people left in it- it'll just be full of illegal immigrants. It's one of the crappiest countries on earth.

I agree. We moved out 7 years ago and I am sad to say I feel disgusted every time I go back when I see how the country is degenerating into an overcontroled nany state where I find self interest is more important than any sense of comunity.

Hi
Have you heard the expression 'baited breath'? I can't speak for others but I feel it's like waiting for the next political blunder or tax increase and they're both linked, are these wasters really unsackable?
Ray. West York's. U.K.

I love my country but am not very proud of it at present.
Floods, pestilence, tax and lawlessness.
Too much of our money wasted or given away.
Does anybody in Government listen or care?

the uk is a disgrace, wish i had the money to get out of this country, im not even proud to be british.

Born and bread here but I feel like a stray in some ways. I hate the increasing violence, the overbearing nanny culture and the lack of honour that so many of our politicians display. It seems that we have become a me me me society. But I am still a gentleman and will continue to be so and welcome all those who wish to live here. The weathers crap but you can't have everything!

Too many kids are dying from knife and drug crime.
The housing market is in a ridiculous state.
The Government are forcing the working class into poverty.
Thank God I emmigrated.

We need to deal with drugs issue. 50% of robberies by druggies. We could clean up UK in months, by death sentence if drug traces found after 12 month period of ban.
Secret tests on imams, to find out if they think death to infidels is valid. Sentence them to be beaten by those who have lost loved ones in bombings. Etc Etc... no major problems, just lack of courage.

It`s becoming a dictatorship nowadays,no smoking in bars, seat belts crash hats all forced on to people. they are for safety but it should be left to the individual to do this now body organs to be taken when people die that is sacrilege.this government is taking things too far.I for one will not vote labour again.

we are over governed by a shower of uneducated wannabees the present government grew up benefiting from free education they all seem to have waisted and a healthy NHS they took for granted they seem to have been indoctrinated that they have to save the world from its self instead of taking care of the voting public we have a society where it is now the norm for gangs of marauding youths to do as they please because the police cant touch them (human rights laws) the victims in this country are treated like criminals and the criminals like victims. young girls are encouraged to have kids far to young as its the only way a young person under 25yrs can get affordable accommodation or any help towards living costs so we have created a situation where 17yr olds play dolls prams with real baby's but have very poor parenting skills another generation damaged . i think its time the gov. gave people real incentives to work and stopped poking its noes into other country's problems and sorted out whats wrong with our country

I was there for only a month and I didn't want to live the tourist life. I stayed at a Hostel and just scouted the possibilities of a life there. I liked the community I liked the people I liked the system. Every place has it's problems which is why I prefer to live a simple life and try to enjoy the basic pleasures and go with the flow. Someday I want to go back and stay for awhile.

Where ever we come from there's always no place like home.

I am proud to live in the UK,we have beautiful places to visit and it might sound shallow, but I dont concern myself with Politics I just concentrate on making my life the best I can and everyone that I have a pleasure to meet will be treat with respect, I would welcome anyone into it and I have to say you need to take a deeper look into the UK, not all of us are me me me or into drugs and causing disruption,Im sorry some of you have no desire to visit us again, we have to all be proud of our roots and yet still see other worlds that you are all so lucky to live in xx
