London has quite a few nice, fun, free attractions!

South Kensington is home to most of the museums in the capital, and these include the Natural History museum, the Science centre, the Victoria and Albert museum to name a few.

If you want a cheap alternative to the London Eye, you could always go to St Pauls Cathedral and climb the 530 steps to the top of the dome. The view from the top is pretty spectacular. Check their website as I know the Golden Gallery is closed until late April, so check opening times.

Go for a walk? London has an amazing amount of open space, even though the head count per sq mile is the highest in the country. Hyde Park, Green Park, St James Park in the west of the city, and Greenwich Park in the south east.

Remember, Oyster would be the cheapest way to travel, but if you dont already have one, dont bother as they cost Â£3. Travelcards are brilliant value and allow you unlimited journeys around the zones.

Walk along southbank-there are usually street artists and sometimes people performing outside the national theatre.
Covent garden is a great place to wander around,again street performers are usually all around there and some musicians.

yes there's all the big museums, galleries etc ... they're free, but they charge for any special exhibitions they have going on

there's some lovely walks ... one of my favourites is starting at Westminster tube station (Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey) across the bridge (admire the views) turn left (past aquarium, London Eye) if you're lucky there'll be some special event going on in Jubilee Gardens, keep on under the bridges (lots of second hand book stalls to browse around) to South Bank centre (check out if there's any free entertainment http://www.southbanklondon.com/) stop either here or a little further along at Gabriels Wharf for a coffee or something to eat, if you've run out of energy or time come back to the north side of the river via Waterloo Bridge, otherwise keep straight ahead, if you keep going you'll end up by the Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre, then take the wobbly (Millennium) bridge to the north of the river, straight ahead up the steps to St Pauls

The good news is that London is a big city with a seemingly never-ending supply of hotel rooms. And with a little bit of planning ahead you can get a good deal on a place to sleep - even if you might not call it "cheap" anywhere else on earth, you will see that, relatively speaking, it is probably a cheap hotel in London. Two things you can do to help make sure you do not pay through the nose for a bed are - travel in the low season, and know which neighborhoods are better for budget hotels.

The first thing on that list, traveling in the low season, will help you save money on everything from airfare to hotels, and sometimes tourist attractions and meals as well. London does not really have an "off" season, so there will always be tourists around, but London winters are such that it is not as pleasant to walk around sight-seeing - which means prices are going to be softer. The second thing on that list, knowing which neighborhoods to look at, is what you can get right here!

Most museums and galleries are free. The parks are lovely this time of year. You can get into a show free. You need to find out which ones are giving a performance with the understudies, which they do once or twice each season. There are free street performances in places like Covent Garden.

The shops are lovely to look round, Selfridges and Harrods in particular. Pubs often have free live music performances. There will also be free activities like Easter Parades and Easter Egg hunts at this time of year.

This weeks top rated free activity is--- Sleeping in the street. It costs nothing and there is no better way to see the British culture and result of centuries of Godless Government these days. Hell, if you beg hard enough you might even earn yourself a free ticket home--- which by the way is where I much rather prefer to be

oh theres so much! speaking as a resident i'd start with getting mugged,being abused by pedestrians,stabbed by albanian gangsters,offered sex by questionable ladies (or maybe they're men?),being run over by a courier (bike or van) or robbed blind by a black cab driver. not sure if you'll find all my info in the local guides but i can assure you it accurate. happy hols!!!
