What can I do when I am in Birmingham for a couple of days?

What ideas could people provide me when I arrive at the area's main train station? This would include museums, galleries, attractions and so on.

Welcome to Birmingham, a diverse and dynamic city, vibrant by day and by night, a city where yesterday and today combine to give you a glimpse into a city full of surprises.

With its fascinating history and world-class cultural scene, combined with superb shopping, major international events and exhibitions, great nightlife and award-winning restaurants, Birmingham has a unique quality that brings with it an exciting and dynamic spirit.

The creation of world-class attractions and facilities, such as The Water's Edge at Brindleyplace, an award-winning waterfront, it's pedestrian friendly squares and streets, coupled with venues such as the National Indoor Arena, Symphony Hall and the NEC Arena, the city resounds to world-class live music and sport, and ensures a city experience like no other.

Cosmopolitan in its make-up, Birmingham is an exciting city, hosting a range of visual and performing arts and a variety of music and theatre, difficult to surpass. Home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Birmingham Royal Ballet, Birmingham really is a city of world-class culture.

A city located at the heart of a region full of history and heritage, beautiful quaint villages and access to lush rolling countryside – Birmingham really is a gateway to the heart of England!

Birmingham is a great place! Make sure you go to the Bullring, the Thinktank, the sealife centre and Brindley Place in the City centre, and Cadbury World in Bournville is great, also if your into history theres sarehole mill in Hall Green

There are also some great parks in Brum; like Cannon Hill, the Likey Hills and Kings Heath! whicha all have regular events staged there.

And if you've any time left the a night out in Broad Street is a must! Its great and make sure you have a curry in Stoney Lane - Sparkhill. The George pub does a great balti and a good pint!

BUT WHATEVER YOU DO! DON'T STAY ON THE TRAIN TO MANCHESTER! you may be shot, mugged or beaten to within an inch of your life!

Unlike amny people say Birmingham has one of the safest city centres in the UK and if you have any problems or get lost there are street wardens to help and of course the police!

Hope you have a good time in this GREAT city!

Pop in for a cuppa at mine if ya like :)

Birmingham museum is one of the finest in the country, there is also a science museum, Cadbury world, Aston Hall, Take no notice of the jealous idiots who slate Birmingham, they probably live in London, and Londoners always think they are the bee's knee's. There are loads of nice places in Birmingham to visit, and if the weather is nice, the Lickey Hills are great for countryside and autumn walks.

avoid broad street at night unless you want to get attacked
try and avoid gangs of kids who will demand a cigarette or "30p for the bus" from you
avoid going upstairs on the buses
avoid anywhere outside the city centre except harbourne and parts of edgbaston
if you find yourself outside the city centre, especially after dark, do not panick, just hop in the first taxi you see and make sure the driver has a meter
i'm sure you will be ok as many people visit birmingham and don't get attacked by chavs or teen gangs but just be cautious.
