I for one LOVE England! My sister and I visited there 5 years ago, stayed 2 weeks. London's GREAT! But there are so many other cities/towns (Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, Cumbria /the Lake District, Muncaster). There's lots to explore there-much history and romanticism. The best castles are there too.

Sometimes when people are closed-minded they don't give other cultures a chance. People only misunderstand what they don't fully know. Some of my bestfriends live in England-some of the kindest people you'd ever meet.

I can't wait to get back there. I find Brits quite fun and amusing...very interesting and generous people.

I think of HISTORY & beauty. I want to go to England & see the history w/o seeing all the tourist traps.

I just recently stayed in London and I liked it. I love the beer and cider and had so much fun going to the Shakespeare Head's pub. I do not like the fact it is so expensive since the American dollar doesn't have much value over there. It cost me double for everything I purchased. The people were super friendly to me and my hubby.

these peeps i met from america thought we all drank tea, that we worshipped the queen and all watched "keeping up appearances" lmao

i'm american. this is wild generalization, but from my experience, I think we believe that England has a mostly well-educated and polite population. However, it is thought that the English are a little snobby and are too serious. I haven't really heard many negative stereotypes )other than the ones mentioned before) about England, as you may know we are very interested in other cultures.
And since this war (arghh!) the very conservative (who want this war) type people probably have higher opinions of your government and the liberals like to think that we identify with the people of england who are against this war.
Anyway, that's just one americans opinion....

Well, I can't answer for all Americans. I think England is an awesome country filled with history and culture. I have English friends who are from various backgrounds (some quite posh, others from working-class families) and they are hilarious with great personalities, I love them dearly. Most English people I know are very well traveled. I have grown up my entire life reading about London and the rest of England and I always have had very positive associations with the country and the people.

Oh and the accent is hella sexy.

I think that they are very greatfull to us for being such good mates - bless 'em. Let's face it, they don't have many friends, and someone's got to do it ha ha. Also, they are greatfull to us because they don't speak German - being as WE won the war for them ha ha...... xx
