No offense...but I don't get Scotland. They were a total failure as a country before their union with England, and ever since there union, all they do is cry about how they want to be independant...They never colonized any country succesfully. The one attempt at it, (in Panema already a Spanish colony!) was such a failure that they had to mortgage their entire country to England to get bailed out...They do make great pop music I guess...so they have that..BTW, My grandmother is Scottish...from Paisley....

I have been in Scotland and plan to visit again. It is truly a beautiful country with friendly, outgoing people. I especially loved Edinburgh, the Highlands, and of course, Loch Ness! Your country is breathtaking!

I remember flying over Scotland and how it looked from the airplane...very beautiful and green. I would love to visit there some day!

I love SCOTLAND, one of my favorite countries I visited last fall.
The people were friendly, and the accents, LOVE EM!
I met some cool people out in Edinbourgh and I would definately go back to visit in a heart beat.
Even though it rained most of the time I was out there, the rain sure makes things beautiful up in the highlands, everything all green. Breathtaking!
Scots Rock!

Lots of people in the US are of Scottish ancestry (including me), so I think many are curious about the country. To me, it's always sounded like someplace I'd enjoy visiting and learning about - perhaps some day I can! :-)

Well, I don't have a lot to base my opinions on. I saw Trainspotting, but I know that not all of the Scottish youth are heroin addicts. It looks very beautiful. I love Scotch. My Mom loves the bagpipes too. The music scene has really grown there; I'm a big fan of Franz Ferdinand and Travis. Other than that, just some stereotypes of kilt-wearing redheads. I'd love to visit!

anonymous
Castles and lots of cold, green hills. And kilts.

From what I've seen it looks beautiful, it's a place I have always wanted to visit.

Nice Real Nice
Well, not all Americans are that ignorant, fortunately! :~)

I adore Scotland and have visited several times. I especially love Glasgow, Stirling and Oban. The people were very charming and friendly.

My ancestors were Scots.

My impressions are of Jackie Stewart, the Highlander, and of Scots' famous frugality. Bagpipes and tartans too. And golf. Also, the sense that it's probably a relatively harsh climate. But England and Ireland are a lot more familiar to Americans, maybe because so many of us trace our ancestry from one of the two.

I see Scotland as the land of kilts
and bagpipes.
I'm sure it is much more than that.
Enjoy your visit in the USA, should
the chance come your way.

wheressharky
men wearing skirts (kilts) would not be a good idea in the US

lots of little red haired guys running around drunk playing bagpipes looking for pots o gold at the end of rainbows with big clumps of clovers growing out of their hats
