English not British,
Why should the English have to call themselves British?
The Scots don't want to be British, or the Welsh, nor the Irish, so why the English? |

Though they are British, I think a lot of them would like to be called English if they are from England...those in London are Londoners. |

I think most brits would say they are british but if asked where they are from would say England (although Londoners would probably say London)
Also we are not very easy offfended so I wouldn't really worry about it. He probably wouldn't even notice. |

I think calling someone a Brit is pretty safe. I'm English and Welsh so if someone called me an Englishman it would be incorrect. I wouldn't be offended, though. |

you couldnt offend him,
our goverment and previous governments have done all the offending necessary ,aided by town councils and form fillers who have resisted all attempts to call ourselves English we must call ourselves British to be politically correct,,,,only foreigners born here allowed to call themselves English.... |

If he's a friend, ask him. Personally I prefer just 'from England', if it actually comes up. But I can't imagine 'Brit' being offensive (though as an abbreviation, it's more like slang than 'Briton'). |
