Northern Island is British, and I go on a regular basis, I just LUV it, I also go to the South, what a beautiful part of the world, wish I could live there.of course it must be my Irish ancestors eh!!!! |

Why would it be a waste of tax money? Don't the Northern Irish pay taxes? As for what the English think of Northern Ireland, I can't answer, I have never been myself but I have seen photos and it looks very beautiful in places. Just the same as England, I should think. Nice in some places, not so nice in others. In fact just the same as anywhere else in the world, I guess. |

I think most English people are pretty ignorant about Northern Ireland. It's a place where people like to kill each other, and sometimes they leave nasty presents for us in England. I'm English but my mum is from Armagh, and I'm living in the Republic so I have a fair idea what it's all about. Saying that, I don't have any particularly strong views either way. I've known loads of people from both sides of the divide and it always struck me how similar they were ... great sense of humour, very hospitable and generous. I'm just pleased they aren't killing each other any more. Hope the good progress continues. |

I have never been there, it looks very beautiful especially the lakes, I don't know about taxes etc; what happens is entirely up to the people who live there. |

Northern Ireland isn't a waste of tax or time. It is a beautiful country. It's been through 'the troubles' but is now thriving in parts and moving on. Most people would like to put the past behind and look forward to a good, happy and prosperous future. A lot of English have never understood the problems here, or tried. Don't think there are many places in this world where there hasn't been/isn't bother of some sort.
There are loads of English people living here.
Toursists can be assured of a very warm hospitable welcome from the locals, with plenty of craic! The scenery will never disappoint. |

I was born in Wales of Welsh Parents, my Wife was born in Belfast of a Northern Ireland Mother and a Scottish Father and our daughter was born in England. That makes our Family an ideal temperature measure, I think.
So, having been there on a number of occasions both during the 'troubles' and in these better times, I have been struck by the friendliness and hospitality from all the people I have met.
The Country is beautiful and my visit to Belfast in 1998 will long be remembered when I was taken on a whistle stop tour as part of an 'official' visit with an organisation I belong to culminating with a visit to City Hall and tea with the then Lord Mayor David Alderdyce. I have many gifts and souvenirs from a wonderful part of the United Kingdom. |

They're in the UK but if you ask where they're from, they'll always say NI or Ireland and never UK. They never fly the Union Jack, only the NI Flag of the Irish flag. |
