Once you get out of the cities, then it has to be the countryside...when flying into England, especially a regional airport, and you see all the patchwork fields, that is when I know I am home...I like the diversity, and for all our faults we are a very tolerant nation, although the tolerance is wearing a bit thin these days, as it is being confused with weakness....I love the beer, the food and the History with a big 'H' all the wonderful museums and Castles. Not to forget Scotland and Wales which have some of the best most remote and quiet areas to explore....wouldn't want to live anywhere else, despite the weather.

I have this strong impression of England generally that it is THE place to go to experience ghost phenomena. You know, if you want to experience a haunted house or castle, England is the place for you. There is an ancient energy there. It tends to make it all possible. I visualise England, and up pop all these beautiful, full colour photographs of old castles, and I am thinking to myself, "Surely, with all those great old castles, there must be at least one or two that is haunted for real!" You just know it's true, even if you don't happen to believe in them, I'll bet England and its castles would make you a believer! For reasons I cannot explain, the castle that pulls on me is Warwick Castle, but I have heard other people who live in England instantly cite other castles without reservations of any kind - that they are definitely haunted.
