Depends on which part you live in. Sometimes I hate it, (no snow) other times I love it (5 min drive to the beach on a sunny day.

Good ol' blighty eh!

England used to be a great place to live, until it was taken over by invading immigrants.
For hundreds of years, we have tried to fight off the invaders but now we pay them to come here.
The country will never be the same again. It's going downhill fast !
Half the trouble is that the government recognize this problem but are choosing to do absolutely nothing about it.

It's not bad if you have money. I mean, it's like that in most countries. But Britain tax too much I think. Way too much tax. And, some people say that everything is expensive there, but people earn much more there (I say there because I currently live in Sri Lanka, but I lived in England ever since I was born until August last year). The weather is cold, but sometimes cold weather is fun. I mean, I prefer cold weather, to hot and sweaty weather. I hate sweating! Anyway, choldren in England are slowly becoming... more... (you know)..., and that is because of all the fast food and advertising. But, some ways England is good (well, compared to Sri Lanka). Even though you pay tax, you get free healthcare, education, garbage collection, good roads... Over here in SL, we pay tax for healthcare, but the gov hospitals are rubbish! We always have to pay extra for private ones.

Anyway, I hoped I helped you. =D

I live in Birmingham, and it is FANTASTIC! I love my country and all the people.

There are bad things, just like everywhere but the good stuff outways the bad! BY FAR

Icame here from Canada over 16 years ago and it's been good to me. Believe it or not, people, other countries also have high taxes, rising crime, immigration problems, bad weather & so forth! (I actually believe English people LIKE to believe they have it worse than everyone else as they enjoy a good moan!)
One example of something better about the UK,for instance, is prescription drugs. You get them for £6.80. Back in canada you would have to pay both dispensing fee AND drug costs. Try that on something like, medication for shingles-- well over $150 in one fell swoop!
The biggest problem with the UK is a Government who seem, among other failings, to despise anything English. Recently they turned down a much needed new road/visitors centre at Stonehenge- a World heritage site which may now go on the 'endangered' list (how embarrassing for one of the world's richest countries!)--and one of the Labour back benchers actually suggested, 'can't they move it?' Shameful!

Neither the best or the worst. Plus points for me: beautiful countryside, frequent dense rail network that gets me everywhere; lots of culture especially in London; excellent BBC Radio; my friends are here.
Negative: high cost of living with little regulation of rip offs like utility companies we all depend on,;anti social behaviour such as violent public drunkeness on a massive scale; the general apathy and negativism displayed by so many people.
This sort of question comes up frequently on this site and all the anti immigration answers really bother me, because the world economic system has been based on people moving around the world to better their material lot, for a long time now and all economically developed countries have many immigrants.

I moved away from England 42 years ago. It was a decision that my parents made. I went back for the first time since I was 16, last summer. I had an absolutely fantastic time. I have many relatives over there and they tell me that everything is very expensive. However, for the most part, wages are compatible to the costs. I found things to be extremely expensive on a tourists budget. An English pound cost me almost 2.50 in Canadian dollars.
It was quite a shock when purchasing items and thinking in terms of my Canadian dollar. Mind you, it is all relative.
I loved England and the UK as a whole however, I feel that my parents made the right move in 1966. We were given far more opportunities here in Canada.
I would not consider moving back to England only because my Canadian savings, once changed to pound Stirling, would not last me very long. Further, the majority of my family now reside in Canada.
As for there being a lot of immigrants in the UK, well, here in Canada, we also have a lot of immigrants. I'm one also. It's not an issue for me.

'Er indoors!!
A lot depends on where you live in England. I would rather die, than live in London, or Manchester, as I live in the Countryside, which is safe and beautiful. It costs us more to live here, but the quality of life is priceless.

Yes it's true, many economically developed Countries do have many immigrants, but how many are small Islands like Britain???

If you ask a polish person its heaven, but "actual" ENGLISH people will mostly disagree. THE GOVERMENT IS ON ITS ****!

Left England 32 years ago. It was going downhill then. Reading the press on-line for my local area, Dorset, I'd say I made the right choice.

Depends whether you ask an assylum seeker or someone who's gone to live in New Zealand.

I think it's still OK, but going downhill fast.

happy chappy
getting worse every day as a place to live too much tax on everything too many stupid laws to put people down and a government that has it`s head in the clouds. If I had money I`d emigrate and live abroad. England is getting so much worse.
