go for it!! i have been to italy twice and scotland once, all alone. it is a great way to travel! you can get up when you want, see what you want, stay for as long as you want, eat when/where you want.
try getting the travel books for london/england called "lonely planet" - they are travel books for people travelling alone and they have good pointers about safety and stuff like that. like anywhere else in the world (even your city) take precautions when you're alone and you'll be fine.
in all my travels ive never had any problems at all! |

Have you ever successfully travelled anywhere by yourself before? If so then go for it. If not take a short trip and see how you personally feel travelling alone.
London is as safe a city as anywhere else and safer then many others. you just need to use good sense and be careful.
A plus is that English is spoken in the UK but many Americans often have to have things repeated if they aren't used to hearing the language (watch Masterpiece Theatre, Mystery! and other British shows on PBS)
have fun! |

London is a great city. You will really enjoy it.
There is a large US population in London but you should ignore them and meet some good old British men.
Have fun |

That's not insane. I'm 21 and I want to travel the world. And I would do it alone. Go for it and forget what everyone else says. They can't say anything until they've traveled. |

I live in London it's a great city. If you're coming to here just for visiting the city, then you shouldn't think twice about it. You might find it dificult if you want to move and work here. But many people do it everyday. Just make a move. But i need to warn you. You will need a lot of money. It's one of the most expensive cities in the world. Especially on accomodation. |

You're not insane. Go see what you want to see. If your concerns are one of 'is it dangerous for a woman to travel there alone?' then I would say not really. Of course there can be dangers for a female travelling alone, but I would say they are probably lower in London than many other destinations in the world. There is probably as much danger in your own home town, but at least when you are travelling you have your guard up because of the unfamiliar. If you don't want to be alone, then you will soon make friends in London's social scene.
Definitely go for it, and if you can afford the time/money try to see more than just London. There's a lot more to the UK than just our capital (as great a City as it is - I've travelled extensively and it's still the only place I can imagine myself living in permanently). |
