Brilliant place. Lovely people. Fantastic architecture. 2 great football teams (1 really!).
When all the refurbishment is finished in the city it will be absolutely fantastic.

I am from Liverpool and have lived abroad. People I have met who have visited Liverpool have generally had good things to say about it such as the friendliness of the natives, architecture, museums, art galleries.....etc. Just last weekend my wife took a coach load of people to Liverpool from Shropshire and everyone had a good time. There is a lot of redevelopment going on and when it is finished Liverpool will be a jewel.

Went there years ago for a university interview. Found the people really helpful. Had a night out there and again, liked it a lot. I wouldn't mind living there. Most cities have problems.

I feel very nostalgic about Liverpool because as a child just after WW2 we used to go to Birkenhead for our holidays. I had an aunt who lived in the basement of an insurance company at 8 Hamilton Square. We used to get the ferry to Liverpool every day and catch another ferry to places like West Kirby, Egremont, Morton, Hoylake and New Brighton. I had such happy days there.

I went back again about two years ago and was so sad to see the Mersey so devoid of all the noise and bustle I had known in the 1950s. There used to be big liners in port and tugs sounding their horns all day, as well as ferries crossing to and fro every few minutes. I also used to go on the 'Royal Iris' where you could dance and have fish and chips. I will always love Liverpool.

Love it. happiest four years of my life being at Uni, standing on the Kop. People are great. (Ignore the negative stereotypes people have about Scousers)

Miss the city loads.

funky munky is back
I love liverpool, although I don't live there, I love to visit and go shopping and the people are very friendly, I go to Albert Dock too. I love the Beatles and have a warm feeling when I go down Mathew Street where the Cavern Club is. I would love to go on the Magical Mystery tour one day.

VikingLord
You should be VERY proud to be from Liverpool. I am American and know Liverpool as being the home of The Beatles and that is enough for me to know that i like it.

i visited there for a couple of days 6 years ago and i was really impressed. i liked the albert dock area, the ferry was pretty cool. i also did a beatles tour and anfield was pretty cool. too bad i didn't get to see a game. the time i was there, they weren't in town. i was impressed and hope to go back one day. i'd also like to see more of the uk, especially the lake district. also, liverpool has the best football club in the world...Liverpool FC, that is something to be proud of, for sure.

I live in and love Liverpool in spite of it's problems the biggest of which is Liverpool City Council

I'm from Liverpool. I know it has problems, but it also has many assets. I've been to many other cities around the world, and if nothing else, Liverpool is the liveliest. One recent example. I went to Marseilles a few days ago, and walked for 2 hours in the evening trying to find something (besides eating) to do. It seemed to shut at night.

I love it so much I have just moved there from London. I fell in love with the city and kept coming back every time I had a few quid to spare for the coach fare...and now I am a proud Liverpudlian myself. The food, people, places, night life...The Cavern is my second home!!

WENDEL HOMES
I know of a Blue Badge guide who has blown away visitors with her knowledge of Liverpool many many of them have told their friends of her and advised them to go on a walking tour with her... but due to latter ill health she has to refrain... however the good news is there are plenty to walk in her footsteps who also carry full knowledge of Liverpool's' magnificent history and can reveal so many hidden faces of this most astounding of cities.

It would be vastly improved by getting rid of all that Beatles tat and a lot less fuss was made of some foreign multi-millionaires who kick a ball around and live miles away.

It would be better still if the current City Council, responsible for so comprehensively mucking up Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008, were publicly executed.

Now THAT'D bring in the tourists!

I am from Liverpool (can you tell?) and it's great. I'm excited to see what the redevelopments will bring to the city - the new shopping development and the big arena in particular. I'm glad to read so many positive replies from others too.

There are lots of Livepool escapees and descendants about.

I live in USA, but born here.

Recently studied Glasgow and was amazed at the similar problems to Detroit, with completely different ethnic pie in each place.

Points to some other missing factor in the dialogue of getting a handle on things, yes?

Peace and blessings upon Liverpool.

Some talented people from there, we all know about the Beatles.

Unfortunately, only other things I know about involves severe beating of some foreigners, safer to stay on ship.

Bad beer places for strangers.

I would stay out or proceed only with armed escort.

As Liverpuddlian, you also must work on this. I am doing my part for problem in general and for USA places in my blog.

But it has limited reach. Many other helping hands with many other styles required.

an absolute dump of a place - they only have two cathedrals in case one gets stolen

Sir Terrance DeCat.
The best thing about Liverpool is the M62.
