When I think of England I think of two things: London and royalty (the Queen, Prince Charles, William, Harry, etc).

I think of England as a place that is very rich in culture and history. I think of it as a place much like America, but with more class. It's a place that has a LOT of traditions and because of the traditions, it struggles to hold onto them but at the same time be modern.

They've got a lot of talented people in music, business, science etc. They seem to value fairness, objectivity and logical debate. The BBC is about the best news source I know of.

They've also produced some of the most horrible sitcoms I've ever seen in my life, reruns of which the local public station airs interminably for some reason.

I'd never want to actually go there as it would destroy all my cherished delusions.

Also: great accents

My dream trip of all time would be to visit Scotland. Which, admittedly is part of the UK but isn't exactly England. Is that close enough?

I dont like the fact that they took Cornwall from the Cornish by killing 15% of the population and banned worshiping the bible in the native tongue. Up until the 14 century cornwall was considered an independent nation, like wales and scotland. Indeed all legislation passed referred to 'Anglia et Cornubia' - England and Cornwall, much as the legislation passed today refers to 'England and Wales'. It will come as a surprise to many to learn that Cornwall existed some 500 years before England itself was formed.
The Cornovii were a Celtic tribe who inhabited the far South West peninsula of Britain, during the Iron Age, Roman and post-Roman periods and gave their name to Cornwall or Kernow. Anyway rant over!

I live here and I love it. Obviously I would be a bit biased but when I first went to London, it was the best place I have ever visited. I also looove the English countryside; it makes the best camping holidays!

I've traveled to your country, your people are nice and kind.
But I have to say that the leaders of your country are not kind
With their wrong policies they have killed many people in middle east, especially in Iraq,it is very painful,Believe me

Very nice country. Weather, outside of the summer, is tad dreary for me though. Love the small villages, the history, the castles, and Brighton.

I have never been there, SO I can't personally tell you what I think of it. But from what i've seen in pictures, post cards, etc. It looks amazing!

I'm an American. However I lived in The United Kingdom for a couple years, in the early-mid 80's. I spent the bulk of my time there, living in England.

I can honestly say England is my favourite place on Earth! Granted, like everywhere else on Earth, England isn't perfect by any means. But I loved my time there and I love the place! The people are some of the nicest, warmest people I've ever met. And goodness!... What a great sense of humour you all seem to have!

I've travelled to many places but, England is truly the one place I keep going back to again and again. It's also the only place that I love as much as I love my own country. From my first day there, I always felt very much at home. I can't say that about every place I've ever been to.

I love the place, but it's changing for the worse. A crumbling inefficient national health service, hugely expensive and unreliable public transport, chavs running wild and laughing in the face of the authorities, the high cost of living, the ridiculously high taxes, the slow but inevitable assimilation by Europe....the list goes on.

It's where I was born and raised, and I will never stop loving it...but I left to start afresh overseas.

I'm really sorry but I'm Scottish and have been brought up to think that England sucks. And no offence, but it does.
