Yeah come to Brum in the heart of the country.
There are some great places to visit and the whole city center is getting a serious makeover, so it's not all doom and gloom any more.
There is a lot of new areas such as the bullring shopping centre which is like being on holiday with loads and loads of shops, cafes and bars along with some excellent nightlife.
Get a place in Solihull or Chelmsley Wood, and some parts of Erdington and Castle Bromwich are nice, so why not come and live hear, it's bostin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As with all cities there are both good and bad areas. (www.upmystreet.co.uk)

Birmingham does have advantages and there is stuff to do!! It is not all concrete at all! Birmingham is a vibrant city, with average crime rates for its size.

Birmingham has some fantastic shops, a decent museum, art galleries, etc.

Food is generally decently priced and there is the markets which sell fresh produce and it is excellent value for money, you can pick up everything at Birmingham markets: fabric, clothes, shoes, books, music, food, etc.

Accomodation varies in price and there are some real bargains available, but there are also some really high priced places that are not really worth it. (www.rightmove.co.uk)

There is lots of construction work happening which is sure to bring even more interesting stuff to Birmingham.

It really depends on what your looking for to be able to say if you would want to live there.

There is a mixture of people young through to old, wealthy and financially not so well off!

There are some parts that are very scenic, others artistic, modern and even quite funky.

The weather today has been sunny, sunny, sunny! :)

good luck with the move, if you need any advice on areas, let me know.

i'd say that the west indian youths of the city have made it a joy live there. A woman was standing at a bus stop with her kids recently at colmore row (city centre ,not dangerous) she repremanded some black youths for some reason(i think dropping litter) ,her reward was a punch in the face ,she died, its was in the evening mail .

i live in lichfield but love birmingham for the shops so many to choose from dont think i would like tolive there to much crime

im from brighton but my daughter lives there with her partner and kids, just outside actually in west brom. some areas seem nice and some are as some other comments say concrete jungle. all places have good and bad points, we are by the sea but theres some bad points to living here too. personally i would have no problem moving to that area for a very special man. weathers not good today but dont think much of uk is today.

as with any city there are good and bad parts of birmingham, i live on the side nearest to the black country, no way would i live on the other side of the city

I was born in Birmingham, and th ebest locations are as follows:

1. Edgbaston,
2. Sutton Coldfield, Little Aston, Streetly and Four Oaks
3. Erdington, Meer Green
4. Selly Oak, Moseley.
5. Marston Green/Chelmsley Wood
6. Solihull, Dorridge, Hall Green.
7. Gas Street Basin around the Canal zone.Nice now !
8. Great Barr/ Walsall borders.

Thats about it. Birmingham has an interesting history and is not a dump at all, its vibrant and lively around the centre and subburbs and has plenty of culture, "Olde Worlde" Style, go and take a look.
