What is the annual amount of litter on british roads?

Canuck
I don't know if you are looking for a statistic or an opinion. If you want my opinion, Britons should be digusted by how much litter they throw in the streets thinking the council workers will pick it up. I'm guessing half of what people chuck away ends up blowing into ravines and roadside shrub borders and some of it is never cleared away.

I should be doing something else

Far too much - people should start taking a bit more pride in their country. Where I live is semi rural and looking out the window now I can even see rubbish out on the road. As for the people who are throwing this rubbish down - Id love to see what their houses look like!

Far too much and its not only on the roads; its piled up in peoples' gardens, in parks and in the countryside. Its not England, its Litterland

someone said why cant there put litter in bins.
in London, there are very few bins, due to possible attacks, as did the IRA in the 1970's they planted bombs in litter bins.

where i live in Thurrock, the only bins you'll see are near the shops, they are none else where.
Thurrock is known as the Dustbin of London, as all their Rubbish is dumped in a landfill site in South Ockendon or in Mucking (yes it is a Village name)

sorry i know this doen't answer your question

far to much perhaps if we adopted the german approach where every one is responsible to clean and wash down outside there homes , fines are imposed if not ,but it also gives a sense of pride and looks far better than our dust bin of a country

lowjoy
A huge amount I should think judging by the amout you see every where you go. there are some filthy people in this Country, and only the lord knows how they live at home.
