never been to newquay, so i don't know how good it is. my favourite seaside resort is a bit unconventional, as your average tourist doesn't really go there for the beach...... they mostly go for the history and legends that are associated with it. it's a large town in the north of England called Whitby. it's mainly famous for being featured in Bram Stoker's Dracula story, but there are lots of other reasons why people go..... there's St. Mary's church which is ontop of a big cliff, and u have to walk up 199 steps (very old uneven stone steps up the side of a cliff !) to get to it.... there's also a history of smuggling in Whitby, and it's also know for it's fishing industry, and Captain Cook (the explorer) was based in, and sailed from Whitby. as u can maybe tell, i'm not into all the standard tourist traps - ie, amusement parks, tacky gift shops, etc, etc, although Whitby does also have those things...... i think that's why i like it so much - it has a good balance between historical attractions and more modern attractions. also, just down the coast is Scarborough, which is a lot bigger than Whitby, and has a better beach.
