England doesnt have states it has countys. There is not just England you know - there is Scotland, Wales and Ireland all part of the Britsih Isles - United Kingdom. Well as I come from Kent - SE England I would have to say that is the best county, only 21 miles from France - 45 minutes on the ferry. As for industries we would have the same as any other country

We don't have states we have Shires eg Lancashire, Cheshire, Hampshire etc.
As for IT it's fairly consistent. The area of Derbyshire (where I live) is very well known for friendly people.
Look forward to seeing you.;

England does not have states...work in the IT industry is fairly consistant

I assume you are American? Then you should live in London or a suburb of London. Anywhere else and you will never really feel like you belong. London is also where the best pay is, but it is damn expensive. London is very cosmopolitan and you will meet people from all over. Most of the rest of England is not.

?? england is the "state" isnt it? The other states being scotland, wales, and northern ireland making up the good old UK of GB (&NI)

beanco (below) - this really annoys me. Although Ireland is on the British Isles (which has no political meaning whatsoever) it is NOT in the UK. Northern Ireland IS in the UK but not in Great Britain. Hence the name The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I wouldn't even bother moving to England as the housing is expensive beyond belief the wages are pretty good but the taxes are very high. The roads are crap the cost of living is very expensive and the price of fuel could make a person cry!!

All in all it's not worth the trip!!

Johnny rotten
Depends ...where are you from?.. hope you aint an illegal immigrant ?

scotland_rockers
england don't have states, there called regions.
