What is the best thing about britain?

Getting on a plane. At risk of being crude but true, lifting off from the tarmac out of UK is like standing up from the toilet and leaving a pile of diarrhoea behind. Who agrees ?

There is many great things the fact that we have free health care. The fact that we have so much. The Films, Music, The people, The shops, the way that things are. I love britain, I'm proud to be british and i'd rather live here than anywhere else in the world. I don't know why your so anti-britian. Also i like america and don't say bad things it or about anywhere so why do you feel the need to be so disrespectful about my country. D ick H ead x

You don't know you are born if you can say that about the UK. I'm not saying that Britain is amazing and has no problems, but I can't understand people who complain continuously about how things are in the UK.

Here are a few reasons why I like the UK:
-Beautiful scenery. We have a great range of unspoilt nature at our doorstep. Mountains, valleys, islands, coast line, lochs and lakes...
-Good climate. The weather actually changes considerably through the seasons, and there is always something different. In addition, its great for growing things
- Free health care. Yes I know there are delays, but what is the alternative? Is it really any better. We are lucky to have free access to medical care when we need it.
- Income support/job seekers allowance etc. It should be changed to avoid dole bludgers, but the simple fact of the matter is that many people are in situations where they need some help, and I'm glad that this country is not one which will watch these people fall through the cracks.
- Freedom. We have freedom of speech, religion, sexuality...so many things that we take for granted but which are not available elsewhere.
- Food. I know many people criticise it, but I think they just don't understand what British food is about. We can grow such a wide variety of foods which taste amazing in season - theres nothing better than getting down to the farmers market at the moment (squash season!).

I'm sorry its a bit of a long answer, but I feel I need to defend the UK...I've travelled quite a lot in my life, and I have seen many countries - none of which I like as much as home. I think if I could change one thing it would be the attitude of people. They need to be happier, and they need to accept that they actually have things pretty darned good in the UK...

I think our flag is quite funky even though I wouldn't want to wear one and I really like that Scottish guy with the turban on' The One Show'. Someone told me it was the English who invented trousers. I don't think I'd go anywhere without them.
