Plenty to do and see in London if that's were you're going, but it's expensive. Be aware the T-rex at the National History Museum is out of action at the moment for repairs. Go on the London Eye, it's surprisingly good.
Outside of London there is still plenty to do. Depends which part of the country you're going to - visit these sites:

Cornwall, the north coast, rugged and beautiful with loads of quaint little villages doing tea and scones...lovely old little houses.
Newquay is surfers paradise (Cornwall).

The Lake District. Lots of lovely scenery and walks

London...where do I start??? London Eye, Camden Town Market....not just any old market this one! Fab unusual place spend hours there...,Science Museum South Kensington,

Windsor..castle, river Thames, interesting nice day out.

Longleat Safari.(on your way to Cornwall)

Olde worlde pubs in the countryside with tons of real ale.

The Horn in Watford (if Blue Bros. Tribute is on....great lively friendly atmosphere.)

Take a river cruise down the Thames.

The list is endless....you'll have a ball!!

. . . do you speak Polish or Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Roumanian ? - if not then you'll enjoy your visit - of course, there's only London . . .

There's loads of stuff, but I recommend you get out of London - people are nicer elsewhere.
My friend came over in September and we met up in Cambridge and went for a punt ride. It's £35 for a boat, so try and team up with some other people, but it's a really nice way to see a very pretty and historically interesting city.
I like the North East of England - people are very friendly and there's loads to see. Including:
- a ghost cruise and a visit to the York dungeon in York.
- Whitby museum (which has some really mad exhibits like a "hand of glory" and a "tempest prognosticator." Whitby is also the best place to get traditional Fish and Chips. There's loads of vampire schwag for sale in the town because of the dracula connection.
- Newcastle (just a fab city with loads to do).
- Durham Cathedral
- Alnwick Castle and Gardens (familiar from loads of movies including Harry Potter, Elizabeth, Robin Hood Price of Thieves)
- Bamburgh Castle (again used in quite a few movies - gorgeous castle on a lovely beach)

A gratuitous plug for my own region: The town of Swaffham in the Norfolk is one of only two places in the world where you can go up to a wind turbine viewing platform (weather permitting).
And the county city, Norwich, is a really nice place to go shopping.

If you really must stay in London, the British Museum is fab and if you want to go somewhere really quirky, try the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street.

Mr Politeness
Visit some nice country pubs, not the scruffy town centre boozers, but the pub that still has a good fire, hand pulled beers, a dart board ,pool table and a nice looking girl behind the bar.
Get out of London as fast as you can. Visit the Imperial War Museum first, from memory I think its free.
Visit the Yorkshire Dales. Have a walk round Malham, Try a meal at the Wensleydale Heifer. Go to Bolton Abbey in Wharfedale.
Have afternoon tea at Betty's in Harrogate.
Go watch a proper football match, Brighton and Hove Albion are quite a good team to watch.
See the splendour that is Skegness.
Have some proper fish and chips eaten out of the paper on your way home after the pub.
Go to Blackpool and imagine what is was like when it was busy, clean and prosperous.
Try not to come in March unless you come from somewhere colder.

if you go to the coast - best thing ever, and probably the most british thing to do ever is to go to the nearest chip shop by the sea, and go sit on the beach with a tray of chips and curry sauce, and a can of coke! cant beat it! if all else fails, do the other english thing and go to the pub! - i know my canadian cousins didnt understand why this was so good when they visited, but trust me its great!

When you're in London, look out for a train station, then jump on the one with Cardiff on the front of it.
