What is the best view in London?

The best view in London... well, the very best I ever had was coming into Heathrow one day, and getting delayed in a 'stack' circling over central London. It's happened once or twice, but this was a postcard-perfect, sunny day. At one point we were following the line of the Thames: over Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Blackfriars, Westminster and west over Hampton Court. That was unforgettable.

But if you can't arrange that... ;D .... the next best thing is the view from the top of the dome of St Paul's Cathedral. Have a look here (click here to launch the "virtual tour", then on "view from the top" for a 360-degree panorama): http://www.sphericalimages.com/stpauls/virtual_tour.htm

I prefer it to the view from the London Eye because you can spend as long as you like there, and you can walk right round the viewing gallery -- with the Eye you really only have the topmost view for a few minutes.

It's better value, too: £10 (for which you get free run of the cathedral too) as opposed to a starting price of £15 (rising to £15.50 from April).

I hope you enjoy whichever view you decide on -- love from a Londoner born and bred.
=D

From either Parliament Hill (Hampstead Heath), Primrose Hill or from Greenwich Observatory. I would personally recommend the first two as they give panoramic views of everything, and are absolutely stunning especially at dawn

David D
Probably the view from the top of the London Eye on a clear day.

From the highest point on the London Eye.
You can see how beautifull London really is and how 'we' as Londoners take it for granted everyday

fdm215
Probably the London Eye assuming you can't get to the top of the Parliment Building

I like a view up the river off London Bridge which is right next to where I work.

I think Battersea Power Station is awesome.

You get excellent views from Primrose Hill and Parliament Hill in NW London, or the London Eye.

Goldie
I love the view from Primrose Hill, its lovely

The best view in London is from the viewing desk of the
Angel pub Bermondsey riverside. From there looking upstream, you can see St.Paul's off in the distance through Tower Bridge. Grab this view at sunset - fabulous.
