Although I have many southern friends. I've seen quite a few surveys that people in the North are more friendly and more likeley to help you. For example, in shops in the North (Newcastle for example) people will chat to ou for ages and have a laugh. When I'm been in similar shops in London for example people dnot have the time of day to talk to you. I guess there's just so much more population density in the South.
Also the North is much cheaper, beer in my local costs £1.63 a pint and in the south its more like £3.00 a pint.
However, if you go to the South West, like Devon for example, people tend to become friendlier again.
Although this is my own thorughs and steryotypes there are deffinatly lovley people in the South and in the north. |

I moved to Lincolnshire a few months ago and to be really honest I sometimes wish i was back down south, i have never encountered such rudeness, especially when I talk. As I have a 'cockney' accent they feel the need to copy but as soon as I copy 'their' accent and call someone 'duck' then all hell breaks loose!!!! But saying that, I recently went to Newcastle and must say that they were the friendliest people i have ever met, far better than down South as well, so I'm not just saying where I come from is the best, so really it depends on where you go, all people are different, there is good and bad everywhere but as I said, where I am is not a good advert for tourism. |

The Northeners are more communal, and will often start a conversation with you out of the blue, while the Southerners are far less likely to do so. |

The north and the south used to be very different. The south was where the wealth was (mainly London) and the North was very much working class. This is why the North has the reputation of being so friendly as back in days the community would work together to help each other out as things were not so easy. Now-a-days the North has pretty much caught up with the south but the animosity between the north and the south still goes on. A lot of the southerners see the northeners as working class scum and a lot of the northerners see the southerners as shandy drinking puffs. |

Northerners are on the whole more friendly and Southerners more reserved. both are good friends when they get to know you. There is often, but not always more money in the South were wages and prices are generally higher |

Sorry Emily W, but Bradford is NOT and NEVER HAS BEEN a part of Leeds (North, South, East or even West). Bradford is a completely seperate City to that of Leeds, what's more, we in Bradford are arch rivals with Leeds when it comes to football and Rugby league!
"...WE DON'T COME FROM LEEDS OR LONDON, WE DON'T COME FROM MANCHESTER - WE'RE FROM BRADFORD...WE'RE FROM BRADFORD..." |

Southerners think they are special. Northeners are. Seriously though , there are nice people all over Britain, just as there are also doosies everywhere too. As far as culture is concerned, the South held that title , but things are a changing big time in the North, to the point, I believe , they have left the South way behind. |

OI!!!
All the people in the north are NOT smelly, thick and rude!!!
I come from West yorkshire, in West Leeds, Sure there may be a high crime rate, but it isn't everyone. And, it is REALLY hard to cover up a Yorkshire accent, so go stick your answer were the sun don't shine, thats basically racism!!! In West Leeds there is
Bramley
Pudsey
Swinnow
Bradford
And Armley
I live in Pudsey, and that is the most decent place, and yeah, us Northerners are a laugh too! We do anything, including me, and i'm 13 lol. ANYTHING!!!
Haha...!!! |

northerners move down south to moan about us southerners who are quietly minding our own business. they also like to moan about the price of beer. as if we southerners dont have to pay it |

northeners are smelly thick and talk funny, plus most are crims

Northerners may be more fun, but in my experience they're not the sharpest tools in the box. Southerners are more sensible and laid-back. |
