What is the quickest and cheapest way to travel in london?

al
Motorbike!!! any time

The cheapest and quickest way to travel is to buy an Oyster card and travel around on the tube and bus. If you buy ordinary tickets it cost more than using an Oyster card.

You can pick up an Oyster card at any tube station ticket office or orderone online. It also gives you 2 for 1 and cut price admission to various tourist attractions and resturants.

tube and bus......buy an oyster card from any stockist (tube station or some newsagents) and it will cost £3 (IIRC). If you use it for more than a few days, you will save more than £3.
(example - a one day travel card is about £6.........using an oyster card on the same basis will cost £4.80...........a single bus journey is £1.50..........with an oyster card it is £1 at peak times or 80p off peak)
An Oyster card is a pre-pay electronic card, and you can top it up (with any amount you like) at stations/newsagents or on the internet.

The question is what is the quickest/cheapest way to travel IN London, not TO London.

So 'nil points' to the people who've said plane and tanker!!!!!

sarcasticquotemarks
Depends how fast you can run.

Philip W
Depends how far you are going
For short distances - walk
a mile or two - bus
longer - tube

Star dust
It depends where you want to go, sometimes the tube works out cheaper, sometimes the train, wouldn't trust buses though and i guess on foot is the cheapest

On Foot :)

Bill N
If the weather is good - walk.

Most of the tourist sites are in central london and what most people don't realise is that they are acually very close together, mostno more than ten minutes walk between them.

duncan
in central london, a bicycle on both counts

If you book around October and early November then it should be cheaper. And after that it starts to get expensive as Christmas is and holiday seasons the airfare rises because wants to travel to be with their family and friends. As for the quickest way to fly to London. It depends on where your flying from. If from Australia its almost 24hours flight and you have do stopovers in Asia depending on airline you fly with.

From where?

Let's assume the United States.

Quickest: direct flight on the airlines

Cheapest: duct-taped to an oil tanker crossing the Atlantic Ocean

By Internet! Not only you can see London you can learn about London. However, to travel physically to London you need time to:
#1 Get organized. Confusion will make it riskier and will prove that improvising will turn expensive.
#2 Try different dates particularly low seasons.
#3 I tried TravelZoo.com and they came with a good offer.
#4 Try a local travel agent, they know a few tricks
#5 Earn millage on credit cards or bank accounts. Sooner or later you will save some miles and money.
#6 Try lodging at local colleges during the summer. Dorms may be available.
#7 RESEARCH! On how to move around with special metro cards, etc.

Good luck

The quickest way to London is obviously by airplane. I've read some silly response to this and it is by airplane.... Well, at least in my opinion...
