How about Muckle Fluga (Not joking). it's a rocky outcrop at the northern tip of the Island of Unst in the Shetlands. The Lighthouse there is the most northerly inhabited building in the UK.

Not sure if the lighthouse had a staff of 1 or 2.

A couple of miles south on Unst is the RAF Station at Saxa Vord. which has the most northerly licenced bar. The Lighthouse staff were granted honorary membership of the Sergeants Mess there.

It has to Toft Monks in Norfolk,

traveling at 30mph it takes 11 seconds from "you are now entering Toft Monks" until you reach "you are now leaving Toft Monks"

It's Auld Hucknall in Derbyshire.

To be honest there are probably some hamlets (smaller than a village) that just contain one cottage or farm with a population of just 1 person.

That farm on the Yorkshire Moors where the old bird stayed for centuries before she became famous and embraced the filthy lucre.

Well, there are many single houses with single occupants, pretty much in the middle of nowhere, all over the UK.

With a population of 1600, St Davids is featured in the Guinness Book of Records as being the smallest city in Wales and the United Kingdom.

There are plenty of tiny villages throughout the countryside that have only 100 or so residents - I think it will be tough for you to find the smallest.
I am from Wanborough in Wiltshire, it probably has a population of around 2000, it's about 5 sq miles.

must be one of the islands up in the north of scotland.

My grandad lived in a one house village and he was the only resident. The nearest small shop was over 3 miles away.

?
Im afraid I can't help.......but its an interesting question, and Iook forward to some decent answers....nice one!

.....just a thought. Would a Scottish Island with a lighthouse and a couple of inhabitants count. I don't know the name of any but surely if there were it would be a contender?
