Merthyr Tydfil! Went for a ruby, and the door was locked behind us, then we had to pay for our meal up front. We ate, and then they unlocked the door to let us out. Apparently they have so many 'Eat & Run' people, they have to do that! Unbelievable! |

Holyhead in north wales is the most depressing place. 1/3 of the shops are pound shops, 1/3 are charity shops and the other lot are closed. |

Erdington, near Birmingham in the West Midlands was probably one of the worst I have personally visited. The shops consisted of betting establishments, pound shops, takeaways and off licenses. There were no other types of shop.

There is nothing of merit in this town apart from the railway station out of it, which takes you to Birmingham City Centre, which is substantially better.
Second on my list is also in the West Midlands. It is Bedworth near Nuneaton. Again, the selection of shops is minimal and there is a market and a theatre, so not a total loss.

Last on my list is the town of Slough in Berkshire. I had the misfortune to go there a few times. Really nothing of merit in this town, although it does have a covered shopping centre. Just a place for commuters to rest their heads.
