Oh my gosh!!! Having lived in England myself all my life i would say be prepared for anything. Sometimes it can be scorchingly hot and other times like last year it will rain non stop. Fingers crossed it doesnt do this for you. I could say bring things that you can layer so if it does get hot you have some strappy tops but if it goes cold you can layer up to keep warm. I once heard someone say we dont have weather here we just have samples of weather and that is totally right. It is so changable that in the course of two months you could experience everytype of weather going. Having said that is rarely ever snows and the temp doesnt usually go about 30oC. Make sure you bring a waterproof and some sun block. I think that pretty much sums it up. Sorry if this sounds really unhelpful but thats just the way it works here. :)

June and July are warm months. Bring clothes you would take to a hot country, something warmer for night time, and something to put on if it rains.

Also something you can use to cover up quickly in bright sunlight, you don't want to burn.

The weather here is unpredictable, but you can be sure of hot days in the summer and an occasional downpour too.

People may laugh, but England is the only country where I have ever suffered sunstroke. No fun :(

Kate
Well how long are you here for????

Ollie

Its probably fairly warm 18c to 22c so maybe a few dresses, jumpers and jeans. Theres a chance of rain so maybe a jacket too.

SB
ones that fit you

Jackass
Well it could be hot, cold or wet here in the summer, so i'd bring your whole wardrobe!

SCG
Bring a bit of everything.... London weather is very unpredectable. You can have 4 seasons in a day. Umbrella is a must.

Opaque clothing of various thicknesses. 42.

Cynthia
Well, I'd bring something dressy, something warm, something coolish, heels, boots, tennies, and a coat. Um...I'd bring enough underwear for each day I was planning to be there.

m&m collector
an umbrella for sure

Beautiful -
the weather is very unprodictable no matter what month it is in London
Summer 2007 was the worst to date.. it was freezing and raining every single day and that was the first summer where i had to wear scarf and coat the whole summer through

this year though i dont think it will be as cold.. it hasnt snowed yet... the last time we had snow here was Jan-March 2007 so we could be looking at a heat wave or very odd weather behaviour

June in general is quite breezy, July is mildly hot and Aug tends to be the hottest
i would advice you take at least 2 jumpers.. a jacket .. a few warm clothes and the rest summer clothes

ohh and dont forget your umbrella

Our weather is funny its summer and at times we experience heat waves of45 50 degrees but because of global warming we experience rain but hopefully it will be sunny ! I suggest try and get a weather report before you come, go to BBC.CO.UK and check out what the weather is like for the upcoming week, so at least you have clothes that is appropriate for your first week, then shop when you need appropriate clothing for the weather, as london has many shops go to West End down oxford street, you can find loads there and camden if you are into clothes that are different ! You'll enjoy it though whatever the weather brings !

for those two months:
* a trenchcoat with a removable lining / liner
* a folding umbrella
* a tote for daytime: your purse, and anything else like newspapers
* cotton knits that you can layer
* clothes for going out in the evening ... but keep it simple: a skirt and a fancy top or two
* two cotton dresses with little linen jackets
* comfortable shoes: here is a website I wish to share, since I think these are terrific:
Espadrillesetc.com
http://www.espadrillesetc.com/
click on the blue letters for a direct connection
*** click on the first page (anywhere) to open up the site, and then find in the left hand margin the shoes and the bags... some of the shoes are too high by far, but many of them are flat and have fun ties at the ankles, and come in bright colors which are fun with plain clothing ... and black and beige, too !!

England is nice for shopping; be sure to get good things and they will last and bring good memories of your journey ... so you don't need to take all that much with you ... we bought things in places like The Scottish Shop (??) in London, which had lovely warm wooly sweater-jackets and we also got reversible tartan rain capes which are nice on a chilly day

KAROLINE M
definately bring a rainmac as the weather is totally unpredictable, but it should be quiet warm at that time of year. just bring clothes for all weathers is the safe bet...

Who knows, should be lovely sunny weather, although last year many people were under 10 feet of water in June.

It's constantly raining over there so pack an umbrella as well!

Well, it's the English summer, so I'd bring a trenchcoat, an oilskin jacket, a number of sweaters, scarves, and gloves, and a few pairs of boots.
