Near King's Cross.
I made that mistake the first time I stayed in London. The easy access to the train stations was not worth the trade-off of rampant beggars that emerged after dark, and disgusting drunks. Nothing like watching a guy piss in the middle of the road (not to the side, dead center mind you) while the CCTV camera got a lovely view of the whole thing.
Best places I ever stayed : near the Gloucester Road Station and near Kennington Station. :)

London is nice but come on Dublin has the country side and the city. Go to Ireland instead.
