What shoes to wear in England in October?

I am traveling to England this October and I am wondering what the best type of shoes to get are. [More specifically, I will be using London as my hub and tranveling all over England].

I'm thinking about buying some running shoes, since I will be walking Everywhere! but I am not sure if I need to find a waterproof option?

I would REALLY like to hear from some people who are from England or who have actually experienced the wetness! If you have any specific brands or style you like, I would love to hear about them!
Additional Details
Sorry, but will someone please explain to me what trainers means exactly over there?

yes trainers are a very good option ... they don't have to be completely waterproof but most trainers are wet-resistant enough showers ... you won't be paddling through huge puddles ... really any type of footwear that is comfortable would be good, especially if it has soft soles that will cushion your feet from the pounding over pavements

The majority of the country wears trainers, or what you'd call sneakers.

It depends on where you plan on travelling to, though. If you plan on walking through the peak district/ lake district/ over the highlands etc then you might want some proper walking shoes- the sort that Millets sells (an outdoor centre).

Boots can be useful too- they keep your feet dry and they're far warmer than trainers.

Personally, I wear trainers all year around- skater type shoes.

In October, it will be cold and wet, but not icy, so heels are still quite feasible. However, open toed shoes at that time of year are not such a good option. Most people wear trainers (what you'd call sneakers - things like Converses, Vans, Etnies or similar). Another option, particularly if you are female is a nice pair of boots like http://www.office.co.uk/womens/office/bittersweet_knee_boot/17/5409/14713/1 or ankle boots, or ones with heels. There is no way you are going to need walking boots unless you are going to hike across fields or something. There are always some puddles on pavements at that time of year, but nothing you won't be able to dodge!

Well i've been to england about two times but i have many friends from england that currently live there. First of your so lucky to be going to england enjoy your self its a beautiful country. maybe take the euro to paris for a night or two. But right now Uggs are very big in england if those are out of your price range or don't want to spend that much here a couple more options. rain boots target has cute ones . Yes it will be ranning at least once. haha crocs may be and sneakers always work

1) Not everyone in England wears the exact same clothes as everyone else.
2) The fashion industry is the same in most of the world, england doesnt have its own unique style.
3) No one expects you to be wearing the same clothes as everyone else
4) No one knows the Autumn fashion untill it comes out, as its still summer here, they are still selling everything for summer!

I live in scotland and it can get very wet sometimes. I usually wear black dr marten boots all year round mainly cos they are so comfy and due to my line of work but i have lots of pairs of trainers too but only really wear them on really warm days and to the gym. A pair of good strong hiking boots would be your best bet they will keep you dry and will be good if your walking allot but you would get away with trainers if you are staying in towns and not going to the countryside.

P.S. Don't go to England come to Scotland. It's a nicer place and we are allot nicer than the limeys.

K
trainers.
PS dont go 2 england. come 2 wales we are nicer than the english and the scottish put together :)

suraj_g93
