What to do in London??

Hi all!

I'm having my gorgeous nieces for the day tomorrow and am taking them out in London (I live just outside). I've kind of decided on museums - history, science and possibly V&A, as they are all close to each other.

But in case they get bored/tired; what else could i do with them? preferably not too expensive (Ideally free), but lots of fun. does anyone know of anything going on for kids during the hols? They are 10 and 7.

Thank you all!!
x

if you're wanting museums then how about the geffrye museum? they have some really good workshops for kids, you might want to call them up to see whats on but there's always lots of workshops and things aimed at kids there, i think most things there are free. the natural history museum is also great for kids, i think they will probably find the v&a and the history museums boring, no offense or anything but all my cousins do. they love the natural history museum because they like looking at all the animals and the dinosaur skeletons etc. oh and the rip off gift shop. lol! i know they are spread out so you will have to chose the area you are visiting. but i would recommend the natural history museum over the ones you have selected, if its a nice day there's also gardens and green space outside it if you want to take a picnic

oh and the london aquarium although you have to pay for is great! they have tanks where you can touch sting rays and they have sharks and most underwater things i can think of! also near there is the imax cinema (i think) although this would be quite an expensive day out

Covent Garden, there is always street entertainers, so it cost nothing, then go on to Leicester Square

Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, also free I think and only a tube ride away. Depends on the weather really, if its not too bad then perhaps a picnic in one of the parks? If its raining then there's not much else to do thats free but go to the museums. Hamleys is alwatys fun but you have to make them aware that they're only going to play with the toys, not buy them!

Well Kensington gardens is not far from the museums so, if it aint raining you take them to see the statue of Peter Pan, etc.
Great for kids and adults a like. Take a few sarnies have a picnic and an ice cream.

If they're (really) into museums try the Museum of London or the Transport Museum but gorgeous nieces might like Planet Hollywood near Leicester Square.

What about the zoo, don't take them to the Aquarium too expensive and not really worth the cash.:))

Barking mad
Nothing is cheap in London, but it is free to walk around Hyde Park, the Tower of London and along the embankment, hope its not like today, rain rain and more rain.
