What to wear in London???

I'm going to London for 6 months and I leave next Friday...I know that London is mostly rainy year round, but I'll be there during the summer...does it get pretty warm? Like enough to comfortably wear shorts? Or is the attire pretty much best left at pants and long sleeves? Are capris a good idea? I have a down jacket that doubles up as a rain coat...would that be too hot to wear during the summer months? I need all the advice I can get! Thanks!!

Heyy!!

well, London does have pretty unpredictable weather!! Summers can be quite nice over here, but it can also chuck it down with rain too!

My advice to you would be to bring a variety of clothes. A few pairs of jeans, skirts, cropped trousers, blouses, tshirts, and definately a light jacket. Your jacket that doubles as a rain coat sounds like a very good idea. Also bring a few pairs of shoes, like ugg boots, converses and ballet pump kinda shoes

You could even go on a huge shopping spree over here. I recommend oxford street and covent garden for all the best shops (i go there all the time)! :d

I hope you enjoy your stay here in London!

variety is good; shorts, jeans, skirts, long sleeved tops and short sleeved, because the weather here is quite unpredictable; it'll be sunny one minute and raining the next, and at night it gets quite cold, so whatever yuo do don't forget a thick jacket and an umbrella :)

First things first - as you'll find out when you get here, it really doesn't rain that much in this country! Whilst last summer wasn't that great, for the past 5 years or so we've been in the grip of a drought and haven't even been able to water our gardens let alone don a raincoat. The only people who seem to think it chronically rains are Americans who have never actually been here!

Believe it or not, it does actually get very hot here. In June, July and August temperatures can easily get into the 90s so I would highly recommend bringing summer wear, including shorts. We do get the odd cold day in summer and if it hasn't been that particularly warm during the day it can get a bit chilly at night, so I'd also recommend bringing layers which you can add and remove as the weather dictates.

Bring a mixture of clothes because sometimes it can get quite warmish to hot, and sometimes it's warm but raining .and sometimes cold and raining. In the summer it can be hot in the day and chilly at nights, so just bring a mixture.

wear pretty light layers that you could take there. Remember you need some covers for the rain but also remember to look good. When does a person get to go to london so remember dress up fab and wear light layers but stylish

you need a variety of stuff for those six months since it can range from hot and humid to bitingly cold and wet

pack like you are going to new york city, except is usually does not get as hot nor as cold as NY. summer is like a NYC april-may-june. air conditioning isn't everywhere, so you will appreciate the lightweight clothes in the summer. light layers if you are prone to getting cold. take an umbrella - it may alternate sun/rain 4 times in a day. enjoy your stay

London is a hugely fashionable city as it one of the fashion centrals of the world along with paris, new york and rome.

yes in the summer you do get many many days when it is hot enough to wear shorts and not feel cold so definatly do take some. take the coat as our summer months unfortunatly last for about 3 months if we are lucky. by october it will be cold again im afraid hahaso u need to take warm clothes and summery clothes (though im sure you will buy lots out here! u will be spoilt for choice)
I live in london so i am just writing from what i experience form the weather here.
I do hope I have helped, safe journey over here and enjoy your stay :)
