Leeds... Don't listen to those Londoners.... people are too focused on the south east... the north is the way forward... you cant go far wrong with Leeds... small enough to be friendly and large enough to have lots to do... and a superb music scene to boot. .... |

London may be a great world city, but its sheer size is a disadvantage. Trying to hit highlights like Soho, Camden and Kensington can take you all day. Then there's the fact there are no Londoners in the West End anymore, it's all tourists and foreigners serving them overpriced food and beer. London is hard to enjoy on a budget. It may have some of the world's greatest treasurehouses - which are free - but nightlife and shopping will leave you feeling like you've been mugged. It's fine in small doses and we do make the trip once or twice a year, but we always come back feeling tired and dirty and skint.
Now take Manchester. It has the same vibrant variety neighbourhoods - a huge Chinatown with a proper imperial arch, a canalside gay village that knocks the socks off sleazy and dirty Compton Street, a Northern Quarter that's our own Soho, while Castlefield is our own Camden Locks.
Plus free museums, galleries, more theatre seats per head than the West End, a huge student population, a world famous club scene, terrific pubs - and all within walking distance.
The only other big cities in England that come close in my opinion are Bristol and Newcastle. |

The best city in England is London without any doubt. There are very many places to see and things to do .There is a fantastic underground service that will take you all around. To benifit from your holiday you will have to do your homework and read as much as you can .Put London into your computor and see what comes up.THERE IS SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO THAT I COULDNT POSSIBLY START TO LIST THEM .just make sure you bring a good pair of walking shoes and plenty of energy and plenty of money as the shops are endless. Have a good time |
