if you don't mind somewhere small and basic then try Easyhotel - the rooms are tiny but they all have at telly (extra £5/night), shower, toilet and basin. There's no floor-space to speak of and no wardrobes/drawers but it is safe and secure and they are all close to mainline stations and the tube. The rooms are rather brightly decorated in the company's orange scheme though...
I used Easyhotel Victoria in November - the room was clean and warm and the receptionist was helpful - and they cost from £25 per room per night
other than that, Travelodge is unexciting but always a good bet - London City Road is about £80 a night at the moment |

When me and my boyfriend visited London we stayed in Hotel Caring near The Hyde Park. It was cheap but good!

The Strand Palace is very central (Covent Garden) and usually has rooms available at a good rate. Try www.laterooms.com to book. If you find another check out www.tripadvisor.com to see what other people who have stayed there say about it. |

If you can wait until the Easter vacation (period 15/03/2008 - 27/04/2008), the London School of Economics does bed and breakfast at reasonable rates. Singles start at £32, twins at £50, and triples at £64 (prices per room per night). The rates vary as to which hostel you go, and what type of room you have. Accommodation is basic, but adequate. I have stayed at Carr Saunders Hall, and there was a lot better breakfast there than you get in the Victoria hotels. Look at www.lse.ac/uk/collections/vacations. |

i went to london for the nfl game, so only needed a place to sleep really. We stayed in Norfolk Towers, which was about a 5 minute walk from a tube station, and i think we managed to get it for about £55 for a night. Nothing special but a good stop-over place if you're going to be out most of the time |

Hi, I would recommend you Grange Lancaster Hotel - www.thelancaster.co.uk
Double room is £70-£85. It is in Bloomsbury and 2 blocks away from the British Museum.
Russel Hotel is very nice too, more expensive though. |
