I live there.
1. Car Ferry from Southampton to East Cowes. Go as a foot passenger for about £12 return. Journey time as a foot passenger 55 mins. By car about 1hr 5mins as the company is incompetant at loading/unloading the cars quick.
2. Fast Ferry (Red Jet) from Southampton to West Cowes. Foot passengers only. About £15 return. Journey time 23 mins.
1 and 2 operated by Red Funnel.
West Cowes and East Cowes are 20 mins walk apart...plus 12 mins wait for the (Free on foot) Chain Ferry.
3. Hovercraft from Portsmouth to Ryde. Journey time 12 or 13 mins. I dunno price.
4. Car Ferry (Or Foot Passenger) from Portsmouth to Fishbourne. This is near Ryde but you will need transport from Fishbourne, as there is nothing there. Prices similar to Red Funnel.
5. Car Ferry (Or Foot Passenger) from Lymington to Yarmouth. Yarmouth is the far West of the isle, and will need bus to Newport or Cowes or Ryde. Prices similar to Red Funnel, journey time 25 mins. Both Lymington and Yarmouth are pretty little places.
4 and 5 Operated by WightLink.
6. Fly into Sandown or Bembridge on a light A/c only.
Enjoy!
