The tube (underground); Picadilly Line. Heathrow Express is a very comfortable train journey as well.

Cheapest is the Picadilly tube. Fastest is the Heathrow express to Paddington. Best is a hackney cab (taxi), but it'll cost you a fortune (about 45 pounds).

It depends where you are going in London.

If you are going to West London the Heathrow Express is good - it terminates at Paddington. But tube connections from Paddington are awful and slow, so its a lousy choice if you are going to East or South London.

The tube is good but quite slow, and absolutely aweful if you have to go through central London in rush hour (its positively third world).

There is a bus service that goes door to door to certain large hotels in the centre which would be my choice as a visitor.

dimpelmum
jump on the Heathrow Express it only takes 15 min´s to get to Paddington Station,

Look on the bright side.
Underground (Tube) takes 50 minutes to Piccadilly Circus but you don't see anything and costs 4 pounds. Buses take about 1 hour and cost 7 pounds and a taxi takes 45 minutes to 1 hour and costs 35 - 45 pounds. The quickest is the Heathrow Express train which takes a bout 20 minutes to Paddington Station and costs 15 pounds.

the tube piccadilly line station at the airport

Tonia!
You can take the Piccadilly Line - a tube/train line that operates from the airport to most places in central London - no traffic:

As a national express coach driver i recommend you jump on the coach service from Heathrow central bus station to London victoria it cost £4-00 services run into london every 15 mins.....can't say fairer then that...

I advise you not to use any sort of taxi services due to the cost being £25.00 upwards they will rip you off.

I would said take the train! When I was in London I took a Taxi from Heathrow to Notting Hill, London and costed about 60 pounds.. so around $120- But I didn't want to deal with people so wasn't as bad! Just depends on what kinda money you want to spend! :-)
