Stevenage, we went there on a whim because we had heard it was the place that God forget and boy they were right. We asked what the best restaurant in town was and were unanimously told the name of a pub, it turned out to be a dreadful place in the middle of nowhere that didn't have ice, couldn't comprehend a man drinking vodka rather than pissy ale. At dusk we walked about the main square of the town (horrific fifties and sixties concrete everywhere) to discover a large number of pissed up teenagers listening to five year old dance music and setting light to baby dolls (yes burning plastic babies littered the square). We got back in to our car, locked the doors and drove as fast and as far from there as possible (well actually we went home).

I can't believe someone beat me to Blackpool!

A vile place where the people need 8 cheap tatoos to enter and a wide enough mouth to get a cigarette in one side and still get chips shoved in the other.

A menagerie of everything wrong with this country, cheap, tacky, absolutely no class and if you don't believe me just take a walk on the front on a sunday morning.
I counted 17 places where the pavement was covered with blood from fights, you can't be there on a saturday evening with kids because of all the stag and hen nights.

The place needs to change, it needs to stop being a drinking hole for parties who come in and abuse it for a night and return to what it should be, a family resort with families, children and a move up market.

I really feel for the locals, masses of council money being wasted cleaning up damage and mess from the night before instead of bringing the place close to looking as it actually exists in this century.

Very difficult to answer unless you have been to every place in the UK!
For me i have to say it was Blackpool. Tacky, dirty, full of hen and stag parties and pubs so rough! The Women there looked rougher than the blokes! Hated it. I do not understand why people rave about it so much.

Northern Spriggan
Blackpool gets my vote so far, although this site has Stevenage on the front page

Wisbech,,,firstly ,,ask someone there for directions and they look at you ,,has though you are from another planet,,,,a few people have confirmed this with me also.

moss side in Manchester is not given a good rating for its guns and violence so much so that the taxis wont go there.

Southeast England. The majority seem to be incerdibly ignorant of what is going on outside their small bubble & believe all of the rubbish the London Centric press feed them.

Skegness, drove in and drove straight out, the whole seafront was so tacky.

I been reading through these and haven't stopped laughing, shouldn't i know, but descriptions are so funny.

boy from bali
King`s Lynn, full of inbred, ignorant people who are totally insular.
Many inhabitants have six fingers, webbed feet, tattoos, no teeth, grossly overweight, and are always looking for a fight. And that`s just the women.

Oracle
Manchester - dead centre of the country and killing more people all the time!!!

John o'Groats is rather disappointing when you get there - just a giant windswept car park with a couple of overpriced tourist shops, a dilapadated hotel and a very basic campsite. The only reason to stay is to get out of the place the next morning and take a ferry across to the Orkney Islands. Not only that, but the famous signpost is private property and you have to pay nearly a tenner to have your photo taken next to it! I hear Land's End is even worse!

I agree with the other answerers though - Blackpool can be really rough these days, and isn't the family holiday resort it once was - it fills up with stag and hen parties on weekends and is best avoided completely at night unless you are a lager lout or hoodie with an ASBO.

I do agree that Blackpool has gone a very dirty place, where are the health and safety, council, street cleaners, also the shop, pub owners etc, they dint know the meaning of cleanliness

lincon and surrounding area-most of the inbred cousin on cousin are in that area and it is just a rough hole, generally the inhabitants are only just on the food chain, and if an alien landed in lincon he would most definately just take off again and look for somwhere else to visit.

I will endorse the Stevenage nomination. That said, all new towns are similarly vapid and uninteresting. If we're going in to specifics, never visit Biggleswade; it feels like a forgotten town. There are very few franchises, and of the few that are there, it's the ones that no one really cares about (Woolworths, some card company who's name I forget *shudder*). The town's only claim to fame is the Jordan's cereal factory, a product that has no customers but continues to grind out cereals because it creates jobs. The easiest way to access it is to go on an drudging walk (the town's only 'scenic' area') which to be honest is completely ugly, even the country areas are swamped in motorway. I don't live there, I have relatives and luckily I've only been there twice. I'm feeling really depressed just thinking about it.
