When we get time off our work. Never at Christmas do we go abroad. We stay at home.

We don't go on vacation, we go on holiday, and it's mostly when the schools have their holiday, because the authorities frown on children being taken out of school during term time. Most schools are now breaking up for their summer holidays of around 6 weeks. The next will be the autumn break in the middle of October which is classed as half term. Then it will be the Christmas and half term break.

carina
people with school-aged children would go on holiday (we don't call it vacation) during school holidays, which is usually about 6 weeks during Jul-Aug-Sep, a couple of weeks at Christmas and a couple of weeks at Easter (plus there are a week's holiday for half terms)

people without school-aged children go on holiday any time ... quite often they go just before or after the school summer holidays as the prices are a lot cheaper ... and quite often they have spring or autumn or winter breaks as well

yammee
Mostly in the summer months but having access to warmer climes(Spain/Italy/.Morrocco we tend to have winter breaks there too as we can reach them in a couple of hours.

When they can. Mostly school holidays (Last week in October, Christmas week, Feb Time, Around Easter, Last week in May, and late July & August). We call it a holiday though.

cafff
whenever you can get time off. if they have kids they often go late july-august as this is when summer holidays are and most people have time off work. some people go in the easter holidays around april, few people i knew go at christmas

Kiki
Most common time is mid-July-August
