At the moment, they seem to be doing fairly well. Although, Woolworths were also doing fairly good!!! I imagine that Tesco and Asda will need something really major to topple them!!! I don't see them closing anytime soon...

Lol, I'm hoping they will expand their food stuff to a French branch proper (now they only do wine in France) and then I won't have to cross the channel for cheddar and bacon.

maca
they close every saturday night

These answers are so typical of our British attitude to success, I think they're brilliant! Logic dictates that we should be proud that a British company is so successful, but instead of that we just slag them off. Great!
I think it was a very sad day when Woolworths closed, they were an institution, but did I ever shop there? No, I didn't.

Tesco is a supermarket - i doubt the recession will topple it.

=)
Never. They seem to be taking over everything. The stores are freaking HUGE!

At the moment , even in these very difficult times there is little chance of that happening . Tesco have very astute management and are very good at offering what customers want
I use the Internet shopping site and there level of service is excellent , delivery always comes within the chosen 2 hour slot and the drivers are very polite and helpful . Now that they are also into things like finance , insurance etc etc they have a very viable and flexible business
I also used to work for one of their major suppliers and Tesco are ruthless in dealing with even the biggest , they get best deals and pass most of that on to customers

tesco is a much bigger company i don't think they will close for a very very long time and maybe they won't close at all who knows. personally i can't stand big corporate supermarkets like tesco they have soo much money and do nothing but moan!!!

the only way it would close is if we all made a pact and decided not to shop there EVER! haha maybe one day

If Tesco ever goes bust, we will have far worse things to worry about. They are absolutely huge - £1 of every £8 which is spent on the UK high street is spent in Tescos, so if they go bust it's probably a sign that the entire UK civil society has collapsed.

It's unlikely they ever will - people will always need to eat.

It wont close its the biggest food giant and will take some toppling. .No-can compete with Tesco thats why all small shops in towns are closing because of giants like Tescos. Thats why you should support your local shops. They also dictate food prices.

marcus fenix
tesco will last for a long time, they are expanding as we speak!!!!

If the economy ever gets so bad that Tesco goes bust, I think getting the shopping in will be the least of our worries.
