After school? You sound a bit young? You'll need a job (and there's loads of immigrants doing jobs for less than minimum pay - if you want a good job you're better off going to college at home first)
But my contribution: I live in Liverpool for university, and I'm from the middle of nowhere too, and actually, it's a small city (compared to the likes of Manchester and London) so I find it pretty comfortable (although shop on Wednesdays if you want to avoid the crowds, and avoid Saturdays like the plague). You wouldn't actually live in the city centre (unless you could afford it) but areas around it like Wavertree, Allerton, places like that, are nice.
As for crime rates, all cities have crime. But choose somewhere that isn't so bad - for example, avoid Toxeth, Croxeth, Edge Hill, and Kensington. Those are known dodgy areas. Catharine Street looks nice but apparently it's targeted by burglars, and Penny Lane is fairly sound.
And follow simple rules like try not to walk around in the dark, (although my housemates do that and they've always been fine. But still not something I'd recommend). Smithdown Road and any roads leading off it are generally fine. But just lock your doors at all time, stuff like that.
But move out with a friend because going out after dark is never a good idea no matter where you are. |

You have to take the good with the bad.Why not research the safest city and then move there instead. |

liverpool is no better or worse than lots of other places. I woudl suggets you need to get over your fear in a controlled way. Maybe visit a safe part duing the day with friends and so on until you feel comfortable then do so alone. Spend some time understanding where you do and don't wnat to go and ensure you do all the thinsg you can to mitigate the percieve drisks - eg buy a panic alarm, have a safety number to call.
Good luck Liverpool is a great city and a fun place to live and I hope you gte to enjoy it |

just go and don't be worried. once you are there and after you become accustomed to the city life you'll realise your fear was just a bit of silliness. stats and rumors don't mean much in reality. but do be careful, stupidity will cost you |

ask a friend to move with you. |

Every big city has its dangerous places, just try to move to a safer part of Liverpool, and move in with a friend or two. Also don't walk around alone at night and if you want, keep something like pepper spray with you. (They make key chain size ones!) |

if you are so scared at the thought of living in a city then please don,t it is not all it is cracked up to be anyway. after living somewhere like wale's you will find it immensely different and very noisy. if you feel you still wish to move than do a flat share with some mates and please be careful of whom you trust. |

Hun, if you worry about things like that you'll miss oppurtunities in life...if you're really worried go with a friend! |

Why do you want to live in Liverpool specifically? I used to live near there and it's good for nightlife etc, but there are loads of cities and big towns that are good fun to live in. How about Chester? That's quite a nice city and probably easier to get back home from for those weekends with the parents.
Or Cardiff? I've got friends living there and that's a good place to live.
You might be best to try and get into Uni in Liverpool first if you want to live there. At least at uni you get looked after a bit and they usually give you accommodation at least for the first year while you find your feet. |

Move to a smaller suburb first so you get a feel of city life as you have acess to it but still feel safe as you also in a fairly rural area. South of england is good for this kind of thing. Then when you feel more confident you can move to a bigger city. |

then don't go to liverpool---city of culture tafl |

Go to college or university.
Gets you the experience of city life while being protected. (You'll be out with friends, have uni accommodation etc) |

Dani

Then you don't want to live in Liverpool. Move to a smaller city. |

Well dont go to the big city go and live in a town first till you find your feet, then you could move up to a big city when your a bit older and a bit wiser |
