I agree with the many answers about London being crowded and dirty but if you have never been there you need to experience it at least once. I am an american married to a british citizen and living just outside of London. The best times NOT to go are between mid May - beginning of September. This is high tourist season and makes it even more crowded. It's hot at times, and few places have air condiioning. It's better to go outside of these times epecially if you are coming from another country as the airfare will be cheaper. And it won't be as hot.

Everyone who goes to UK goes to London. In my opinion it is a dirty place. There are so many beautiful towns and cities in UK so spread your wings and try somewhere else!
