June/early July. The weather is good, the school holidays haven't begun, there are all sorts of entertainments in full swing and the other tourists haven't arrived yet. The gardens are in bloom and there is an atmosphere of eager expectancy as people look forward to the summer months. And if you like tennis -- it's the Wimbledon season. |

Depends where you are going - what you want to experience and when you are visiting.
Spring is starting now, summer in june to september, autumn in october winter in december. Music festivals through summer starting in june - finishing in august on average.
Fantastic views at lake district / scotland / wales - great in all seasons |

England is pretty temperate throughout the year with no extremes of temperature. The further north you go the colder it gets and wetter the further west.
Some of the nicest days I have seen were in December and summers days can be cloudy and overcast. Try the Autumn (October/November) it has a different quality to say the New England Fall. |

Don't listen to the idiots who say never! I live in England and it's a great place to visit!
I depends what you want out of your holiday!
I'm guessing what you want isn't rain though :-) So avoid April.
June and early July are very good times to come, weather-wise. In late July and early August (the height of summer over here) London can be quite unbearable, because it's so built up, concrete and swarming with people. The London Underground is very warm during the summer too; but hopefully you won't spend too much time on the tube!
If you don't mind a bit of wind (and potentially rain!) then March or May is good too. Contrary to popular, it doesn't rain THAT much in England! But the Spring months are pot luck; which is why my pick would be June.
Also, if you've never been to England before and you have time to fit it in, please consider looking at other places than London. Birmingham (where I live... get ready for the talking-up!) is brilliant - it's like a mini-London. Well worth a visit! It only takes 90mins on the train from London Euston to Birmingham New Street station. You could do it in a day, no problem. Although Birmingham's real strong point is the nightlife, so I'd stay overnight!
Some areas of Surrey are beautiful - that's where you'll find what many people imagine England will be like (stately homes and lots of greenery!). Kingston, Guildford and the surrounding areas are worth a day trip :-)
I hope you have fun here in England! If you need any tips on what to do here, feel free to email me!

It depends what you want to see and where you are going. If you're going to somewhere outside the main cities, its really pretty when it snows which is most likely in Jan/Feb (although transport grinds to a halt!).
If you want the hottest months, August is definitely the best time and it's usually hotest on the south coast.
I would recommend August, and doing London in a day or two and catch as show in the west end. Then venture to places like York, Edinburgh, Liverpool, South Coast (Devon and Cornwall), Oxford, Stratford - and a visit to Windsor would be good - very pretty.
Base yourself in the north for a week and then move to the south for a week. Best way to see everything. |

Don't worry about all the negative answers - some people are serial miseries.
To answer your question: It really depends on where you plan to go and what you plan to do. I'm in the South of England where is never really gets cold (as in REALLY cold). If you want reasonable weather come anytime between now and end of October - no guarantees though, it can be really hot one day and pouring with rain the next. |
