Where's your favourite place in Cornwall and why?

I've been to loads and am hoping to move there in the next two years trying to decide where would be best to live.

penzance is nice - windy. Lands end is cool but quiet. the main town centre is the best

St. Ives - beautiful beaches - friendly people - tesco supermarket just up the road - nice friendly pubs - nice walks - plenty to do. good selection of shops - it is a town, better than newquay. The downside is its quite expensive.

St Mawes, opposite Falmouth is really beautiful.

It depends where you want type of lifestyle you want. Public transport is erratic in Cornwall, some areas are better than others. It is a lovely lifestyle in the country, but incomers can find it isolating, especially if there is only 1 bus a week, if at all. It is all very well if you drive, but what happens if the car breaks down? Many people fancy the roses round the door bit, but get disillusioned with the reality.
If you prefer a more civilised lifestyle, suggest either around Truro or St Austell. Around the coast, nearby beaches and fishing villages, good bus and rail links, good shops and supermarkets, several tourist centres (eg Heligan and the Eden Project). My own preference is St Austell. The town centre is currently being refurbished, but there is still a good selection of shops.

I agree with my grain (great name by the way ) The Cornish do not accept outsiders well, but if you do not try to change things, and work hard, you can get yourself "sort of" accepted, as I did.

I live in an extremely beautiful village South East Cornwall, around Looe, and Polperro, Fowey, and Polruan, I moved here 14 years ago, and my kid's have all married locals, so extended the gene pool with my 8 Cornish born grandchildren.

There are only a few places in Cornwall, I would NOT recommend you live, here goes........
Newquay,(Sin city, as we call it, not a nice place)
St Blazey,
Redruth,
Bodmin
Foxhole, and the clay pit villages.
St Austell (not a very attractive town)

I have to say, I think South Cornwall is prettier than North Cornwall, but then I am biased.
Have a look at some of the beautiful places yourself, by typeing in the names , and asking for pictures from "The Magic of Cornwall" Have a look at ......
Looe,
Polperro
Lerryn
Polruan
Fowey
Mevagissey
Boscastle
to name but a few of MY favourite places.

Trebarwith Strand
Along the North coast just down from Tintagel
Just a little rocky bay with a pub and not a lot else
I love the wildness of the north coast

I am 1/8th Cornish

I love the scenery, hate the people
could never live there.

Now Devon, that's an altogether nicer place..................

The Cornish hate outsiders! They're all inter-breeding especially in Padstow! Infact they're starting to mutate!
